A team of 94 vulpine peoples representing Vekaiyu competed at the 6th Winter Olympics in Krytenia. These Olympics represent Vekaiyu's second appearance in an inter-regional Olympiad, and first appearance at a Winter Olympics. These games established Vekaiyu as a strong presence in figure skating, but was overshadowed by the untimely death of Vekaiyun skiier Yiisu Oblervi.

ASTON - The athletes from Vekaiyu arrived in the Krytenian city of Ashton today, full of pride and vigor. While the athletes are overall confident in their abilities, they are also aware of Vekaiyu's first ever Winter Olympics appearance.
"I don't know how we will do in this competition, but I'm sure we will give it our all," flag bearer Yuso Avelkare commented as he left the departure gates. Yuso is anticipated to perform at a medal-level in freestyle skiing. A native of Uligisa, a town in the province of Sevinire, the 25-year-old has been skiing the Ta'lavero mountains just after he learned to walk.
Vekaiyu is sending a total of 94 athletes in a variety of different events. Vekaiyu is especially looking to do well in figure skating, skiing, and snowboarding among other events.
During the Summer Olympics, Vekaiyu surprised many nations by finishing second overall in swimming events. It had achieved what it had set out to prove: they were very good at swimming, but in addition they proved to be among the world's elite in such events, finishing eighteen overall in what proved to be a very competitive Summer Games. Now, with the nation looking to compete in its first winter Olympics, it will no doubt learn from its first experience and expect to compete in many winter events.
Oblervi Death

On the evening of Sunday, February 20th, 2011, Vekaiyun Skiier Yiisu Oblervi went for a drive in his rented 2010 Tickford Tyger. Witnesses stated at approximately 9:47 pm Oblervi was attempting to make a left-hand turn when the car hydroplaned and slammed into a concrete ballast. It then ricocheted off a guard rail. He was removed from the car by paramedics shortly thereafter and taken to Ashton City Hospital.
Injuries sustained to his upper chest and neck were apparent. Had the airbag not deployed, he would have most likely been killed instantly. He was wearing a seatbelt. Despite the preventative measures, Oblervi was pronounced dead at 1:45 am the next day. Coroners later determined Oblervi suffered major injuries to his neck and chest and suspected it was caused by extreme whiplash sustained at the moment of impact.
A police officer administered a BAC test while waiting for paramedics. His BAC was 50ppm; the legal limit in Krytenia is 70ppm (0.07%). Officials at the Vekaiyun Olympic Council condemned the administering of a BAC test, stating that "[The skiier's] life hung in the balance, making the entire test dangerous and necessary." Nevertheless, Krytenian officials were cleared of any wrongdoing some 47 days later when Vekaiyu declared the death was accidental.
