Veskono

The Vekaiyun Veskono, or simply Veskono, is the national currency and only recognized currency of Vekaiyu. Usage of the Veskono began during the Era of Good Feelings,but the style and denominations of the currency has been given multiple face-lifts over the near 1,400 years of its existence.

Coinage and Bills

Ekvus feature centric holes for ease of storage on coin ropes. Pictured is the 5 ekvu coin.

One Veskono represents one hundred ekvus. Each ekvu denomination is presented in coin form, with a hole through the center of the coin. The practice of putting holes in coins was first used during the 12th century in Vekaiyu so that citizens could easily store coins on string. This practice is still used today.

Coins are given in 1, 5, 10, 25, and 50 ekvus. To tell these coins apart, the number value is printed with a picture built around thering-shaped coins. The obverse side gives the written Unonian equivalent and "Vekaiyu" written circumferential to the coin hole. To easily tell these coins apart from the Listonian variant,Vekaiyun coins feature a centric gear cog around the hole in the centerof each coin. Each coin increases in diameter as the value of the coin is increased. Below is a short description for ekvus:

• 1 ekvu has jaku leaves embracing the coin. The base metal is nickel.
• 5 ekvus show wheat stalks. The base metal is bronze.
• 10 ekvus display a Maltese cross design. The base metal is nickel.
• 25 ekvus is adorned with spokes, like a wagon tire. The base metal is brass.
• 50 ekvus has another Maltese cross design, this one more detailed than that shown in the 10 ekvus coin. The base metal is bronze.

Veskonos are presented in "bill form" and are made by blow molding a polymeric material (a high density polyethylene blend) and printing the plastic with a special type of permanent ink. To protect from counterfeiting, the bills have an open area to the right of each centralpicture in which a machine with a special solvent stamps each bill in acertain way that it produces a very shimmery Vayan Cross. This "plastic" money is intricately decorated, and each front has a central picture displaying a prominent figure or symbol of Vekaiyun culture.

The veskono is printed in 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 1,000, 5,000, 10,000, 50,000, 100,000, and 1,000,000 veskonos.

Exchange rates

As of April 1st, 2010, it takes 31.27 Listonian Veskonos to match one veskono of the Vekaiyun variant. This number has decreased slightly over time. On a realm spectrum, the veskono matches up well with many national currencies in and around The East Pacific
