Article of the day Great Morstaybishlia is a unitary sovereign state and transcontinental country in Aurora and southeast Cereneria. It consists of Staynes, Kaltariezh, Valeria, and Jusdelva, as well as nineteen overseas territories, and is the third country by area on Urth. Its capital and financial center is Sani Bursil, the largest city on Urth. The country was originally unified as the Morstaybishlian Empire in 1515 with Lambertus III's unification of Staynes and Kaltariezh ten years prior. The country would transition from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy in 1917 after the end of the Great War, and entering is current form after the 2016 Acts of Union of Great Morstaybishlia and Jusdelva, under which Jusdelva re-entered Great Morstaybishlia after seceding in 1967. Great Morstaybishlia is a founding member of the UNAC and IRSA. As a superpower, it also has the world's largest economy and the world's second-largest military. (Full article...)

Article of the next day The 2021 Great Morstaybishlia general election was held on Thursday, 1 April 2021, two years after the previous general election in 2019. It was triggered following the Labour Party losing their working majority after members of the party voted against an amendment to the Anti-Terrorism Act 2020 following the 2021 Joralesian attacks on 8 March 2021. The Labour Party, which had led as a single-party majority government from 2019, was defending its overall majority of 6 seats after Prime Minister Franklin Barvata removed the Whip from 6 Valerian Labour MPs. The official opposition was led by Benjamin Wardola. The governing Labour Party remained the largest single party in the House of Representatives but lost its small overall majority, instead relying on an 11-seat working majority after a net loss of 47. The Conservative Party won 600 seats, their lowest since the 1998 general election. The Marislian Independence Party (MARIP) made a net gain of 83 seats and won 3.5% of the MBE (translating to 39.45% of the popular vote in Marislia), resulting in 89 out of 155 seats won in Marislia. Article of the day after next Fortuna is a unitary totalitarian dictatorship island nation. The nation makes up all of the Aspirian Isles off the East coast of the Yasterian continent, sharing maritime borders with Sorentavia, Fusō, Isklevyu, Auraliyu, and the Packilvanian enclave of Antimovo. Its capital is Destino. Settlement in what would become Fortuna began in 20,000 BCE, but the Aspirian Isles would remain largely fragmented until a series of conquests led to the the formation of the First Fortunan Empire in 1017 CE. This state would last until its collapse in the 1644 as a result of the Great Civil War, after which the islands were fragmented for the following three centuries. The steady reconsolidation of the islands, combined with the rise of the Unitary Nationalist Party, lead to the reunification of the Fortunan Archipelago and the creation of the Second Fotunan Empire as a fascist dictatorship. Fortuna has a GDP of $555.3 billion, with its economy largely fueled by agricultural, technological, and weapons exports. (Full article...)
