The Volkian Hockey League is the top professional ice hockey league in Volkia. It comprises of 24 member clubs who compete annually for the Polivanov Cup, which is awarded to the league's playoff champion at the end of each season. The VHL is considered to be the premier professional lupine ice hockey league in the world, and is one of the major professional sports leagues in Volkia. The Volkian Hockey League was founded in 1955 after the suspension of operations of its predecessor, the Volkian Hockey Association. The VHL began play with eight teams from the VHA. By 2006 the VHL had expanded to 18 teams, becoming larger than its predecessor was by one team. In 2013, the first non-Volkian team from Tano entered the league. After seeing success with the addition of a foreign team, three additional Tanoese teams joined the VHL in 2015, along with an additional Volkian team, bringing the total number of teams to 23. In 2017 South Hills replaced Tano in the league after the ascension of Tano into the UCCS following the 2014 Dverian War. The Oan Isles is a sovereign island nation located in the West Cerenerian Ocean. Ahua the Great established the Oan Isles in 1000 CE (according to the Oan calendar this is the first year of the period AU or After Unification). He converted to Thaerism and declared it the official and only permissible religion of his realm. He spread his realm from the island of Tokamotu, over which he had been King, to surrounding islands and declared himself the Rangitanga-a-te-Moana (Ruler of the Sea). Folk religions were initially persecuted, but after the Thaerist monarchy lost a civil war in the 11th century CE, Mauism became the offical religion of the Oan Isles. Under Aotearoa the Great, the country established settler colonies in the Strathepolic Islands and integrated them into its territory, vastly expanding the size of the Oan Isles, though it lost significant swathes of territory to civil war and to Great Morstaybishlia. The country is a high-income post-industrial economy administered through free-market socialism that has a nominal GDP of over 785 billion KRB (the 8th largest in the UNAC as of 2021). Antora is a country located on the south-eastern portion of Novaris. Antora is a united post-feudal state, which consolidated into one nation four hundred and thirty years ago from the Kingdom of Casilló and the Kingdom of Réal. With a rich history going back almost 1800 years, Antora is a cultural and vacation destination for many around the world. In 1584, the Kingdom of Réal was conquered after the Thirty-Years’ Bloodshed, also known as the Conquísta, and the Kingdom of Corrí was later officially founded in 1628. In 1783, the Kingdom of Corrí was renamed to Casilló y Réal by Queen Alejandra to reflect the united but distinct cultures of the nation. While the country industrialized in the 19th century, the use of fossil fuels has been heavily regulated by the state. This stance has prohibited Antora from becoming a major power militarily, economically, or industrially, but it remains a prosperous nation with good marks in human development, GDP per capita, democracy, press freedoms, and social and environmental progress. The nation is currently a member of the League of Novaris, as well as a founding member of the Conference for Amity and Cooperation and the Inter-Novaran Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance.
