Ymirland, officially the Crowned Socialist Jarldom of Ymirland, is a coastal country in the far north-eastern Novaris. It borders the Rotantic Ocean to the northern, Jarisven to the southwest and Hustreache to the southeast. It is also sometimes referred as "landet gudene har forlatt" (Staynish: Land the gods have forsaken) by its citizens. This is a reflection of the Ymir mindset, which in almost every survey done in the country since 1935 the people of Ymir feel a sense of lostness, depressive atmosphere and "Går gjennom bevegelsene." (Staynish: Going through the motions.) Går gjennom bevegelsene, is a common saying among the population referring to just working despite the depressive state. It's capital and largest city is Kyinster located on the further end of the peninsula.
Formerly known as Jarldom of Ymirland, it changed governments due to the Ymirland Civil War and intense civil strife before the war (2018-2020). When the previous monarch Otto Tolvstat died in 2016, causing a succession crisis between his twin children Elin and Sindre who ran campaigns to gather populator support. The campaigns rapidly turned violent, despite the children repeated attempts including outright disbanding the military save a few divisions for the border. The drastic action resulted in terrorism from groups hosted in Jarisven attacking villages and towns along the border. South Hills backing Sindre and the Federation backing the Elin. The war ending in 2020, after South Hills pulled out of the war leaving South Ymirland without major military backing and resulting the North Ymirland quickly sweeping through the southern regions.
Demographically it is a Norgsveltian elves and Kemonomimi. With a heavy religious divide between Akuanism and Ulvriktru split down 54% to 41% with only 1% not in either religious. Economically, it is considered to be developing nation and founding member of the Red Crown Economic Union. The currency Red Krone as been the official currency since the Ymirland Civil War for North Ymirland, though there has been heavy issues with interrogating the south into the currency. The largest economic sectors are mining, agriculture and a growing industrial base exceptionally in household electricians. The largest trading partners being the Federation of the Southern Coast, Norgsveldet and Kaldrbuth.
History
Main article for Pre-Norgsveltian Ymirland: Ny‘Andrestopp; For Ymir History
Pre-Norgsveltian Ymirland
Pre-Norgsveltian Colonization, Ymirland was a providence of Ny‘Andrestopp a large Akuan confederation. The Confederation was a critical part of the Rotantic Ocean trade network due to its wide and varied natural resources. Ymirland providence itself, held the capital of the confederation as well several other regions. It was the center for mineral wealth of the region, and the de-facto education center for the confederation. Being the center of bureaucracy, and as being the origin of Akuan Democracy.
900 Defense against Viking war host
The first attempts to conquer direct region was conducted was in the early 900s was by Vikings. The warband was led by Børre Fuglestad, the third eldest son of Anton Fuglestad of Hirdvik. The warband was met with failure after initial successes, being encircled and flanked by Ny'Sænuri clans. Resulting in the viking fleet being burned as it was captured by the Ny'Sænuri. Vikings stopped their attempts to raid and siege the settlements of the Confederation. Placing it's focus on killing the Ny'Sænuri as revenge for their fleet being burned. The Ny'Sænuri clans forced the vikings into the wilderness, as well prevent large scale direct fighting. Rather the clans was focused on slowly picking them off, preventing escape and allowing the harsh elements of the wild kill majority of the war band.
After the eighth month of being trapped in the wilderness, Fulgestad attempted to sue for peace. The clan terms was to remove the head of Fulgestad, but allow the survivors of the band to return home back to Eyjaria with the headless body. Due to the extreme nature, in the view of the Confederation's leadership council. The council attempt to curve influence by the clans, and demanding several clan heads to retire. Ny'Sænuri refused to accept their terms. Resulting in mistrust on both sides between the clans and the government of Ny'Andrestopp.
1500s Early Norgsveltian Influence
Earliest existence of Norgsveltian influence, was by merchants from the Kingdom of Novreheim. Originally the Concordian influence was limited to the capital and kept within Ulvriktru quarter. Modern day capital of Kyinster, was originally settled by Novreheim merchants that ignored the Ulvriktru quarter mandate. The response to the refusal to maintain in the quarter resulted in the Confederation pushing a embargo of trade of the settlement and quarter. However the Confederation was in a upheaval on trying to find a more permanent solution, the Ny'Sænuri clans proposed to eliminate the illegal settlement all together before more Ulvriktru settlers arrived.
The council of Ny‘Andrestopp refused Ny'Sænuri suggestions, rather came to accords by establishing the illegal settlement as a province with voting rights within the lower house. Viewing it better to guide and work alongside the potential beneficial but threatening Norveheim. While viewing them with distrust, it was reasoned by the council that its better to make new friends than enemies. The settlement was legitimatized and later serviced for Norgsveltian justification for conquering the confederation 1781.
1781 Norgsveltian colonization, renaming of the peninsula to Ymirland
After the Sauvageon Wars but during the Wars of Ulvriktru, Lapérousian-Norgsveltian King Gustaf II sent a strong military force to protect the Ulvriktru minorities in the confederation. The king placed the governance of the newly acquired land under Ivar Tolvstat a Elven noble who lived in Kyivnster but was well respected by the greater nation for his neutrally and even-handedness. As well being a Akuanist himself. Though in practice, foreign nobility imported from Norgsveldet held majority of the control.
The colonization by Norgsveltians was the most brutalized of the colonial conquests by the Norgsveltian-Lapérousian Realm, land seizures, death penalty for minor offenses towards Akuanists and wide-spread use of slave labor was common. Ny'Sænuri decided to withdraw from Ymirland to Kuovälsna, unable to match the personal union's raw manpower and strength.
1914 Akuan Atrocities and Independence
Norgsveldet entry into the Great War, result in massive protests, boycotts and civil disobedience from the Akuan population across the Norgsveltian Empire. Ymirland suffered the worst from the Akuan Atrocities, millions died in the labor camps from mistreatment, starvation, disease and executions. Later in 1920, Norgsveldet gave Crown State status to Ymirland, thus on track for independence but due to the struggles of finding administrators that survive the atrocities and dealing with Ulvriktrian Flight. It took until 1950 when independence was declared, not by request of Ymirland but rather a sudden shock from Norgsveldet decision causing massive confusion and a hastily written constitution. Ymirland attempted to join the North Concordian Economic Forum in the 90s but was refused by the council. In addition to the troubles, throughout the decades terrorism from Hustreache and Jarisven sometimes referred to as the Novaris Icy Conflict.
1920 Crown State status
After the Akuan Atrocities, Norgsveldet, gave further autonomy to Ymirland making them into a Crown State as a provisional government is formed. Due to the mass death, Ymir people struggled to find survivors with training and skill for administration duties. These issues only amplified as Ulvriktrian Flight, huge amounts of wealth from Norgsveltian settlers and business fled out of the country.
Political pressure from Ymirland and from internal Norgsveldet forced them to begin the process of independence for Ymirland. Several months of negotiations took place between the colonial office, the Norgsveltian crown and the collection Brewmasters and native independent activists. While full independence wouldn’t be given right away, an informal agreement leading to independence would be given within twenty to fifty years after Crown State status.
With a firm deadline in place for independence and moving its position from colony to Crown State. Giving Ymirland more autonomy within its own affairs. Relieving much of the protesting and marches for independence that was happening throughout the country.
1950 Independence officially declared
The Crown State realm status came to a sudden and dramatic end when Norgsveldet decided to grant independence within a week. Causing political turmoil through the country.
The Labor party in Norgsveldet pressured the government to grant immediate independence to all Crown States. While the Ymirland government agreed to the independence, the deadline for independence was completely unreasonable and efforts to extend the deadline were made but fell on deaf ears of the Labor Party. An action leading to a poorly written constitution, a unstaff cabinet for the PM and suffering from a budget crisis due to mismanagement.
The resulting constitution was filled with contradictions, misspellings, mistranslations and was nearly impossible to change or amend the paper. The Constitution only allowed changes to be made every seven years and only allowed four changes to it. Additionally the constitution had a hard-coded tax rate by accident due to a misunderstanding about how the tax system would work in the framework. Resulting in the country having issues with raising funds to manage itself.

2016 Succession Crisis
After the death of Otto Tolvstat, the monarch of Ymirland led to a series of crises of succession. As previously, Norgsveldet would select the monarch, usually the eldest son of the house of House Tolvstat that settled the island for the Norgsveldet crown. After the independence was declared back in 1950, the succession clause where Norgsveldet selects the next monarch was removed however due to the desire of Norgsveldet wanting to leave the country as quickly as possible. Forced the country to finish the constitution as quickly as possible, without making a proper succession clause for the monarchy.
The succession clause that came out of the first constitution was a self-contradictory mess that had three different methods of succession all of which contradicted the other and had no sense of order or which succession method was to be used or in what case the succession would be used in. Due to how much of a mess the rest of the constitution was, the succession clause was ignored in favor of more pressing issues in the constitution.
Otto Tolvstat was an only child, so when the crown was passed to him, there weren't any issues. However when he died from cancer, he had a pair of twins as his children. As a result there couldn’t be any real argument about who should succeed him and both of his children claimed that Otto told them privately that they were supposed to hold the throne. The lack of clear line of succession led to the twins trying to form political alliances to secure the throne.
PR campaigns played a heavy role, with the twins desperately trying to gain popular public support. Elin Tolvstat, focused on capitalizing the recent popular film “The Red Prince.” Providing a picture that shows her similar to the Red Prince in her struggle to take the throne of Ymirland away from her “capitalist” brother.
Sindre Tolvstat, took the messaging from her sister’s warning about his capitalist and turned them against her. Making a public showing of him meeting with business leaders and Norgsvaldian companies, stating he can provide the country with more jobs and wealth than her “anti-business, anti-economy and anti-reason” sister. Sindre showed himself to be more conservative and traditional than her sister.
Both twins made showings while visiting the species and religious minorities. Trying to get them on their side, stating they are both on the side of minorities.
In reality, Elin and her brother Sindre cared very little about the economy or the political side of the country. Only really wanting to secure the throne through the means of popular support.
As a result of the PR campaigns, the meetings and the rallies. The country was split into separate entities, both claiming to be the real Ymirland. For the most part, the split was peaceful, with only minor fighting from bands of citizens clashing against each other. Both of the Twins denounced violence stating a peaceful solution can still be found. The governments of North and South Ymirland on the other hand, disagreed with their given monarchs instead promoting the fighting on the border. Stating each other was in a state of rebellion but not taking military action against each other just yet.
The military of Ymirland was divided, with many of the officer core going towards the South Ymirland, the liberal-conserivate and the soldiers going to the North Ymirland to side with the socialist-monachy. Both of the monarchies denounced the splitting of the military, stating it can still be solved with peaceful means. The governments of North and South on the other hand supported the dissolution of the military. Stating the former government of Ymirland was no more, to the great stress of the twins.
Both sides started arming up, taking control of armories in their side of the country. Buying weapons from overseas and began military patrols of the border. The border quickly became more militarized, a barbed wire fence cut between cities between the North and South. Much to the disagreement of the Twins who tried and failed to demilitarize the border. The Prime Minister of the South and the Prime Minister of the North began to limit public access, information and press to their respective monarchs. Believing after the war their monarch would understand and thank them for their actions.
Meeting of the Twins Jarls and Olav of Norgsveldet
King Olav I of Norgsveldet held a meeting between himself and the twins of the house Tolvstat trying to get the two to calm the massive tensions that were building between their two nations. Only to unfortunately hear the news that the two have been trying for months to stop the division to no avail. Reportedly when the two told him about the situation only thing he said was “fuck”.
2018 War of unification of the North and South
(For full article, please see Ymirland Civil War)
In 2018, August the 8th, a small firefight between to border garrisons escalated into a full on war. Each side claimed the other started shooting first, latter after the civil war ended a committee from the parliament declared that the southern forces fired first. The first two weeks on the conflict was limited between Ymir groups until North Ymirland in August 18th requested Federation of the Southern Coast military aid. To which the South responded by requesting South Hills for it's military aid.
According to transcripts from the PMs of both sides of Ymirland, first believe aid would only come foreign aid in funds, military equipment and training. Instead the Federation sent 50 thousand troops to which the South Hills respond by matching the number of troops and equipment sent. Much to the shock both the South and North Ymirland governments.
Majority of the civil war was fought was between the foreign powers instead of the Ymir's militaries who was sidelined on garrison and defense duties. Nearly every battle after the arrival of the foreign militaries fighting only each other exclusively, with only small numbers of Ymirland forces taking part. The early fighting in the war consistently shifted around as each force tried to out maneuver each other before stagnating.
The war in the South Hills was unpopular. [TUVA PLS]
After an major operation which costed the South Hills significant amount in military infrastructure and equipment. It was made apparent the South Hills need to send remove the Federation's ability to send reinforcements and resupply to North Ymirland instead of trying to win the war as a proxy conflict, rather making it into more of a direct war against the Federation of the Southern Coast.
The Longest 11 Hours
South Hills naval strike group was sent to intercept Federation’s military transports in the North Concordian Ocean only for said naval strike group to be intercepted by the North Concordian fleet of Norgsveldet, placing large naval standoff between the two Concordian powers, as Norgsveltian navy placed itself in between the two. After 11 hours facing each other, and with Johanna threatening to intervene in the Civil War, South Hills finally backed down allowing Federation transports to go on unabated.
September-2019 SH pulls out of the South Ymirland
Due to the costly nature of the conflict in material, manpower and political pressure from internal South Hills politics, the government decided to have a back room deal with the Federation, to pull out of South Ymirland in exchange for allowing the 99-year lease to have a naval base after the war in January, 2019. The Federation agreed to it, without the consent of the the North Ymirland government.
The withdrawal of South Hill happened over the course of six months, during which the Federation refused to commit to any offensives first waiting for South Hills to pull out before launching it’s second major offensive “Operation Bad News” in which it launched a full invasion, with assistance from the North Ymirland military.
The South Ymirland government and military, without support from South Hills, completely collapsed within a week.
2020 Reform of Ymirland
The unification of the country and the new socialist constitution being imposed took place rapidly in 2020. With a mass pardoning of both sides politicians, soldiers and high ranking officials, by order of the Jarlya of the country. As part of the agreement between Ymirland and the Federation for taking part in the civil war. Ymirland joined the Red Crown Economic Union as well as established its headquarters for its Novaris fleet in Ymirland.
Norgsveldet and South Hills, as part of an agreement to the Federation about Ymirland allowed a 99 year lease for a naval base in Ymirland. To much controversy within the Ymirland politics.
Jarlya Elin alongside her twin brother, held a press conference stating the war was completely unjustified and a national tragedy. Further developing into their attempts to stop the war together against the wave of ‘petty-nationalism’ and political disunity within the country. Going on to express their displeasure with their own Prime Ministers fanning the flames of the disunity to push for their own agenda.
The resulting storm coming out of the press conference resulted in the Ymirland minister stepping down within a few days after. While no formal calls for a change in the new constitution, minor protests broke out into the streets requesting changes in government to include non-socialist monarchists. However the flames died out over the course of the years.
King Olav I of Norgsveldet visited Ymirland after the Civil War ended. Paying his respect to the dead, and held a speech about how he supports the Royal twins efforts in unifying the country after the civil war. Olav stated he will actively work with the Norgsveltian government to establish a NCEF reconstruction program into Ymirland.
Government and Politics
The Ymir constitution is based off the model of the Côtois constitution, being established after the Ymirland Civil War and was approved by the populous in a national referendum on the 5th of January 2020. Later being amended in October 2022, establishing term limits for parliamentarians. The International Socialist Endowment Fund considers Ymirland to be 'Limit Free' due to stimming issues of corruption and mismanagement of civil services. Ymir government is governed on the basis of a multi-party democratic system with firm separations of powers between the three branches of government. It is a ceremonial monarchy, with the executive functions being done through the prime minister and the parliament itself formed the government with the acceptance of the Jarlynja being given at the swearing ceremony for the prime minister. Elections held every five years, however elections can not be held in a year incases where the ice shrines in Northern Ymirland melted two weeks or more early before the given cycle and have a max of three, three year terms. The prime minister appoints the Assembly of Ministers, ministers selected for the positions have to be pre-selected and introduced into a talent pool. The Assembly of Ministers are given directives by the prime minister, and are still members of the parliament. The unicameral parliament is named the Arbeidertinget, which seats 360 parliamentarians and the building as well seats the executive branch in the upper stories. The justice system heavily takes from mixture of Côtois and Norgsveltian system, though it is more influenced by the Norgsveltian system rather than the Côtois. Ymirland being one of the few Akuan majority nations that doesn't have Akuan influenced law, being even further unique due to Novari Akuanism being far more unified compared to other forms/types of Akuanism. Ymirland being a founding member of the Red Crown Economic Union, has been having a notable effect on corruption rates within the country. The RCEU assisting with judicial cooperation between members and providing third-party investigations teams for assistance.
House of Tolvstat
House Tolvstat is the royal family of Ymirland since independence, and before independence from Norgsveldet the noble family was incharge of deportee quarters and settlements. Acting as arbiters for the Akuan councils and Norgsveltian-Eyjarian settlers as well being the spokesperson for the deportee Akuanists. House Tovlstat originally being a small house, but well known for their legal practice. They made a name for themselves during the colonization of Ymirland and deportations of Concordian Akuanists, by suing the Norgsveltian government for the rights for the deportees. Though the supreme court of Norgsveldet decline to hear the case, as Tolvstat family was deported to Ymirland but their law license was still valid. They kept up their practice in Ymirland, repeat suing the Norgsveltian Colonial Office and the Norgsveltian colonial administration of Ymir. While majority of the law suits against the government and colonial office, the cases against specific families or individuals was heard within court and was won. Throughout the two hundred years, the noble family continued to act on behalf of Akuanists, acting as a civil lawyers and the go-between Norgsveltian-Eyjarian community and the Akuan community. During the Akuan Atrocities, they was placed under house-arrest after leading a march towards the Kyivster court house. Being protected by their noble lineage. During negotiations for independence in 1950s, Otto II and several surviving brewmasters negotiation with the Norgsveltian government. The house was declared to be the new heads of state for Ymirland, however until 2020 there was no formal succession laws for the house only being written after the Ymirland Civil War. Elin Tolvstat and her twin, being the members of the house who doesn't have a law degree.

Economy
The Economy of Ymirland is primary focused on mining, agriculture and a electrics for automobiles and household devices. The country is developed, high-income economy even despite the civil war which drastically dropped the Ymirland's economy. Ymirland in 2010 made a attempt to join the North Concordian Economic Forum however due to the succession crisis, civil war and Vistaraland strong anti-socialism stance, they was rejected. As such, they joined the Red Crown Economic Union, both at the request of the Federation during the civil war and by popular support after the war.
Ymirland adopted the Red Krone as it's official currency in 2021, with the United Krone still being used in populated cities despite government attempts to convert the currency. Meanwhile the more rural areas was more accepting of Red Krone as opposed to it's urban counterparts.
Monetary Policy
Due to the switch to the Red Krone from the United Krone, with the two primary reasons to distance itself away from Norgsveltian influence and the joining of the RCEU Monetary Union. The switch, while not controversial to the general population, business leaders raised concerns stimming from the volume of trade and investment coming from Norgsveldet despite the strained relations.
Exchange Programs
The first major currency exchange program started with the South and more rural areas of Ymirland, targeting the farmers and laborers in the region. Viewing it as a political necessary to bring the former Southern Ymirland peoples into fold of the new complete Ymirland country. In addition to the exchange programs, Ymirland only offered agriculture subsidies in Red Krone. Which increased use red krone in the rural regions.
Industry
The industrial sector plays a large and important role within the economy. The main industry sectors are electrical engineering and car part manufacturing. The largest car manufacturing company and largest employer in the sector is the Gyllir Motor Corporation which established a head quarters in Kyivster with several of it's factories along it's coastal cities.
In the electrical engineering sector, it products LCD TV screens, computer monitors and televisions. As well as dishwashers, vacuums and other household electrics.
Energy
After the civil war a majority of the country's electric grid was greatly damaged and it cost a significant amount of money to rebuild. The new government focused on clean and renewables energy sources, as such nuclear plants and hydro power plants was seen as a preferable alternate to the country's previous use of coal power plants.
The RCEU invested heavily into repairing the electric grid and building of a nuclear power plant in the country as well as assist in demolition of coal power plants within the country.

The number of farms and ranches have been on a steadily declined for the last decades before the civil war.
During the civil war, much of the farming land was bombed or riddled with destroyed tanks.
After the civil war, the government put a forward a new agenda to repair the damage done to the farms and increase subsidies to further develop the agriculture sector. Aiming increase the growth of the agriculture sector beyond the pre-civil war periods.
Husbandry wise, they breed sheep and goats with large amount of numbers of chickens being raised as well in ranches.
Fishing plays a large role in food production and Ymir government having a ban on whale hunting.
