Article of the day

The 2020 Aduraszna presidential election took place on Saturday, 15 August 2020, between 6.00 a.m. and 10.00 p.m. The incumbent, Nakhas Tsirun of Movement for Ecological Action, supported by AK/ER's recommendation, won a second term in office, challenged by Rankarus Eszeran, a candidate from the moderate ko'Valkrei faction of ReNDaF, and Lóruszan Fvalus, from the left-wing trade unionist party Solidarity. This election was notable for the failure of the ReNDaF candidate to make it through to the final round of two-party preference votes for the first time since 1965, despite being the largest party in the country. This has been explained by various Aszar political commentators as being due to a combination of a relatively uncharismatic ReNDaF nominee, general dissatisfaction with Harun Lunsdzhura's premiership, and the large numbers of traditionally ReNDaF voters satisfied with Tsirun's first term in the presidency, and as such, opting to preference him first. Sarohart in 2020
Clauzia Sarohart was an Ethalrian politician who served as the first President of North Ethalria from October 2021 until her disappearance in January 2022. She held the office of Leader of LIRES. Sarohart became the second prime minister of Vöhmia in June 2019. Through patent from the late Kotherian Prime Minister Gweneth Moor, Sarohart formed the foundations of a North Ethalria through a de jure confederacy of equal states. Sarohart had inherited a country close to bankruptcy following the Auroran-Pacific War and beset by food, housing and resource shortages; despite the nation having been run under Conservative administration for nearly one and a half years. Sarohart oversaw the largest infrastructure investiture since the late 1970s, rebuilding cities, roads, flood defences and the military. In January 2022, home security footage captured Sarohart packing a suitcase into her car and driving off of her property. Despite an enormous investigation and search party, she and her car were never seen again and her disappearance spawned a number of conspiracy theories. (Full article...)

The Oan Isles is an ancient country that is formally stated to have been established in 1000 CE by Ahua the Great. However, the Oan Isles has been inhabited mostly but not exclusively by primines since around 20,000 BCE. As a result, the history of the Oan Isles is taken to include the period before the country was formally established. The country has since experienced expansion, for instance under the Strathepolic Expansion, cessation of territory after the Morsto-Oan War, and participation in international conflicts such as the Auroran-Pacific War.

The Oan Isles was first colonised by human beings 90,000 years ago. These humans migrated from Yasteria to populate Aurora. There are contradicting conclusions drawn by archeologists as to the nature of these humans and how they spread as they did. It is believed that they made simple rafts from branches of trees strewn together with vines and simple rope made from braiding grass. They possessed basic navigation as there is evidence of cave and rock paintings and carvings depicting what scientists believe are star constellations. (Full article...)
