Vierist democracy, (sometimes known as Democratic Ademarism or by the general term Ademarist democracy) is a political ideology which emerged in Vistaraland during the mid-18th century as the basis for the country's interpretation of religious democracy. The ideology emerged both in tempered opposition to the doctrine of Absolutism, which had gradually come to force during the See of Supremacy's consolidation of power over Vistaraland following the death of Hendrik II in 1668, as well as the emerging liberal philosophies arising from the merchant class. This distinction remains in some today, with Vierist democracy prescribing a Hybrid system in which the powers of a democratic legislature are limited through the establishment of mechanisms allowing intervention by the monarch and religious leaders.

Such mechanisms - which are often seen in some from as a element of semi-constitutional monarchies, include:

  • The appointment of a certain portion of legislators by the Monarch.
  • Active participation of the monarchy in approving legislation.
  • Accountancy of a number of powerful state institutions - such as the military, judiciary and national security to the Monarch rather than elected officials.
  • The ability for the Monarch to form and dissolve governments based upon their own discretion.
  • Allocated role of the monarchy in the conducting of foreign affairs.
  • Inclusions of a number of tenets of religious law as having primacy over law created through legislation.

Despite a number of historical distinctions between it and Vistari Classical conservatism, the formation of modern Conservatism during the 19th Century has seen some interconnectivity between it and the traditionalist wing of the conservative movement in the country. This includes the core values of paternalism, patriotism, preservation of nobility and the role of Ademarism in the state. Such a convergence between the two was notable following the Ademarist Democratic Party of Vistaraland in 2020, with a significant portion of the Imperial Conservative Party's right wing splitting off to form the explicitly Vierist democratic NDVP.

Though considerable debate exists on whether Vistaraland may still apply as an example of a Vierist democracy following liberalizing reforms made in the 2020 Constitution, the system remains unambiguously in place within Twelijnland, with the confederation possessing a majority-elected legislature heavily subject to the powers of the See of Supremacy.
