The Salovian Civil War was a conflict amongst the provinces and states of the former Grand Republic of Salovia that started with the Novugdidi Crisis on June 18th, 1985 to the final signing of the Treaty of Astravili on October 17, 2005 which officially ended the conflict, although fighting had effectively ended since a ceasefire was called in 2003 and enforced by the EPTO and Morstaybishlia, alongside the end of the Nilovian Theater of War. The treaty's signing date was chosen symbolically to align with the date of administrative transition in Salovia. The date of 17 October was also chosen to represent administrative transition within Tuvaltastan, widely seen as the successor state to the former empire.

Background

For much of the nation's existence, the authoritarian monarchy had held an iron grip on the socio-political diversity of Salovia, carefully balancing the Boliari in such a way that the elite class of the empire were represented and accounted for accordingly. The beheading of King Rorin IV changed this centuries-old balance as reflected by the events that occurred during the Era of Unrest. The absence of governance from a King or Queen forced localities to invent or re-instate their own unique governing systems, most significantly of such being the Nobilities of Lovelia and the Baykalian Empire. The rifts created by the Era of Unrest had overarching effects on the political climate and makeup of Salovia, and is often credited by historians as the beginning of the collapse of Salovia.
