The Republic of Oscrelia, also known as Oscrelia is a country in northeast Aurora. It lies to the north of Volova (as part of the former Kostromastan), to the east of Biramura, and to the west of Xiopothos. It is a member of the UNAC.
Originally a Salovian territory, it was forcibly annexed by the Codexian Empire during the Era of Unrest. After a couple of decades of Codexian rule, Oscrelians rose up in the Oscrelian War of Independence, successfully breaking away from the Codexians and establishing a kingdom.
Oscrelia has gone through numerous changes of government since its independence in 1814. Its monarchy was overthrown in 1918 as a reaction to involvement of the Great War, leading to the establishment of a republic. In the 1940s, however, the military leader William Thornton lead a military coup d'état, and won the ensuing civil war. He established the Oscrelian State, which lasted until the end of the Auroran Imperial War.
