Aura International Convention Center
The Aura International Convention Center (Oan: Te Pōkapu Ao-ao o te Huihuinga o te Aura, Ethalrian: Internationales Kongresszentrum Aura, Salovian: Aura Saertashoriso Sak’onperentsio Tsent’ri or simply AICC) is a skyscraper complex in Aura, Emberwood Coast that currently serves as the headquarters of the United Nations of the Auroran Continent (UNAC).
The first iteration of the AICC was the site of negotiations to end the Auroran Imperial War in 1975. It was designated as the seat of the Auroran Continental Assembly (ACA). At some point in the lifespan of the ACA, the AICC was demolished and a new structure bearing the same name was built closer to the coast as the original structure and surrounding areas were no longer suited to accommodating the ACA's needs. The site was the location of the Auroran Reunification Summit called by President Nimona Poole of Emberwood Coast in December 2017. The Charter of the UNAC was signed at this building giving rise to the founding of the UNAC on 21 December 2017.
As of 31 January 2022[update], it contains the Plenary Chamber of the Auroran Parliament, the Office of the President of the UNAC Commission and the Meeting Rooms of the Commission of the UNAC and the Council of the UNAC. Because the UNAC is a larger organisation than the ACA in terms of responsibilities, funding and agencies, the AICC proved inadequate for its needs. Nevertheless, due to its symbolic importance and its status as an exceptional example of Emberitian Post-Modern Architecture, it was declared an ICHO historic monument and protected. Instead, additional buildings near the AICC were rented out or built to accommodate UNAC entities not housed in the AICC.
Once a year, the Parliament, President of the UNAC Commission, Commission and Council go to Sani Bursil, Great Morstaybishlia (MBE), to hold their summer session. This is due to a compromise in the UNAC Charter that affords equal status to Sani Bursil as a co-headquarters of the UNAC. This compromise was due to the fact that the Oan Isles and MBE insisted that as the former headquarters of the Auroran Union, seat of the government of the most powerful nation on the continent and its historic, economic and cultural importance and geographic centrality, Sani Bursil was deserving of being a seat of the UNAC. Other UNAC entities are housed elsewhere on the continent such as the Auroran Court of Justice in Andel, Axdel, the Auroran Monetary Fund in Tokapa, the Oan Isles, and the Auroran Security Agency in Oceansend City, Oceansend.
Building
The structure itself has existed for only a few years. The previous building was further inland, and had stood since 1976, and the reunification of the continent after The Auroran Imperial War. The building, with the exception of some secure areas, is open to all people, races, and is considered joint property of Aura and the International Community. The Main Corridor circumscribes the Assembly Room, features the flags of all Auroran member nations. The Assembly Room is where intercontinental meetings are held; It is a large conference center, capable of hosting over a thousand diplomats comfortably. It features a large holographic array, to show any data the speaker needs to the entire room. Outside the Assembly Room, the upper levels house World Assembly, East Pacific, and Auroran Diplomats that haven't yet established an embassy in the Coast or in Aurora.
