The Aivintian Dependency of Oilean, commonly known as Oilean, is a unitary dependent territory in Gondwana. Oilean is completely isolated on the Emerald Isles, with no land borders. The Sea of Gondwana lies to the north, with the Strait of Oilean being the only entrance and exit apart from Reijia.
Oilean is an Aivintian Dependency with a two-House parliament system. The Executive is run by the Prime Minister, but with the recent vacancy of the office in June 2020, the Military Governor, General Martin Ambrose, has suspended the executive and authorized a military occupation of Oilean in response to the Oilean Republican Crisis.
The capital is Dunbronach, a large metropolis sandwiched by the military bases of Fort Iron and Fort Steel, currently the two largest Aivintian garrisons in the world. The urban area population of Dubronach reached 1.5 million in 2020, a huge milestone for the Oileanian peoples. The second largest city of Oilean is Templegar, with a population of 210 thousand.
Oilean’s relation with its metropolitan territory, Aivintis, is complicated. The Aivintian Empire allowed for a functioning democracy in the legislature, but kept a strong military hold over the nation, and the Federal Kritarchy of Aivintis continued this tradition. Since the institution of this democracy in 2005, Republican movements have risen in the parliament, executive, and in voting groups. It was only after the turmoil of the 2013 Coup d’état of Aivintis that the Oilean Republican Army was formed, a radical political party that has since opposed Aivintian rule.
Oilean has a fair but declining economy, with a relatively low average income and growing income inequality. Oilean was late to industrialize, and had a beautifully preserved environment, especially in the west, where industrialization hasn’t even touched the countryside and urbanization has yet to develop.

Militarily, Oilean is under the occupation of the Aivintian Armed Forces. Their sovereign military was dissolved in the Treaty of Fort Steel, and replaced with an Aivintian garrison, which has, over the years, grown to a significant size. The role of the Aivintian military in Oilean is mainly to keep order and peace, which involves putting down any attempted uprisings and maintaining Aivintian rule. Historically, the Oileanians themselves have provided very little for the Aivintian military, mostly due to mutual distrust and fear. Since the Federal Kritarchy took over, however, Oilean has played a much more active role, although only a small number of Oileanians have been allowed to enlist.
