The United Duchy of Meremaa or more commonly known as just Meremaa is an federal elective monarchy nation located in North Gondwana. Meremaa is an federal monarchy where 11 Dukes and Princes chose a new Grand Duke every 10 years. The current Grand Duke is Njord II of Cirland since 8th November of 2000, and was re-elected in 2010. Meremaa was coloniesed by Norgsveldet in the late 1700s and early 1800s under the rule of Gustaf II. After the great war Meremaa was given homerule and was given control of it's own domestic affairs becoming a Crown State, with chosing their first Grand Duke in 1920 which became Lôke Dudla becoming Grand Duke Lôke I. In 1981 Meremaa it gained full independence from Norgsveldet, ending the country’s six decades time as an Crown State in the Norgsveldet’s Imperial Realm. In 1990 Meremaa was dealing with a brutal civil war called the Meremaa Civil War after Grand Duke Telvi II brutaly put down a labour strike with the army in the city of Morzk.
Meremaa holds close relations with the Union of Commonwealth Alliances, and member of the North Concordian Economic Forum. The Dizciltigā Padome (Noble Council) is made up of 4 Solian Duchies, 2 Zalian Duchies, 1 Zalian principality and 4 Norgsveltian principality. In which the vote from a duchy is considered twice as much as that of a principality in a point like system. With liberal reforms done Njord II in 2021, the current Meremain has allowed for a parliamentary system to be formed making the Grand Duke largely constitutional. With the establishment of the prime minister office and elective lower house. Though the Meremain constitution has been harshly criticised for banning political parties that expouse "radical" and "unpatriotic" rethoric according to article 9 of said constitution.
