Afragola, officially the Independent State of Afragola (Phoexian: Afragola Dømin), is a sovereign country in Northern Arcturia. Afragola borders Phoenixia by sea. Afragola covers an area of 48,809 km2 (188,453 mi²) with a population of 5.9 million. New Arsfly is the capital and largest city.

History

Early history

One of the earliest recorded settlements in Afragola were the Yallos, a tribe from Yasteria, who settled in the area around 2000 BCE. They were later joined by the Klev tribe around 1200 BCE.

Middle Ages

In 500 CE, the Dukedom of Rydews was founded in Afragola. The dukedom was established as a city-state, with a ruling class of nobles and wealthy merchants who oversaw the city's governance and economy. The dukedom was strategically located along several trade routes, which allowed it to prosper and become a significant center of commerce and culture.

Under the dukedom's rule, Afragola developed a vibrant economy based on agriculture, craftsmanship, and trade. The city became known for its exquisite ceramics, textiles, and metalwork, which were exported to neighboring regions.

During the early 9th century, the dukedom faced increasing pressure from neighboring states and tribes. In 888 CE, it collapsed after a series of devastating invasions by the Seakravens, a seafaring people from the north. The Seakravens pillaged and burned the dukedom's cities and towns, and many of its inhabitants were enslaved or killed. The duke at the time, Edmund II, was captured and executed, ending the line of Rydews dukes.

After the collapse of the dukedom, the region fell into a period of anarchy and warfare. Various warlords and chieftains fought for control of the territory, with no central authority to impose order. It wasn't until the early 11th century that stability returned to the region.

Klevsia War

In 1001 CE, the Klevsia War broke out, which saw several rival factions vying for control of the former dukedom. After years of fighting, a new leader emerged: a warrior named Valdemar who was able to unite the warring factions and establish a new, stable state in the region.

Keparta Migration

Between 1360 and 1390 CE, a significant migration occurred from eastern Borea and Concord to the region of Arafors, as a result of persecution of both Tieflings and Kemonomimi in their home regions. Approximately 12,000 Tieflings and 28,000 Kemonomimi fled to Arafors in search of safety and a new home.

The arrival of the Kemonomimi marked the introduction of Akuanism to the Araforsian region, with the construction of the first Akuanist shrine in the Arcturian continent.
