Vistaraland, officially known as the Imperial Vistari Conderation is a confederation of Duchies and Dominions spanning a majority of the former territories of the Vistari Empire.

History

Oudithus Era (Prehistory - 200 BC)

The Vistari People originated from Eastern Concord (Part of Modern Day South Hills), made up of seafaring tribes such as the Oserene and Helban. (Origins of the names of Aisera and Haliban respectively). These ancestors of the Vistari believed the world to be a great Cresent surrounded by an infinite sea. They called this Crescent "Kromme Imposant", or Curve of Imposing. This belief still influences the Vistari view of the world today, with Krommosant being the Vistari word to describe Yasteria and Arcturia as a single continent.

Nieuwthuis Era (200 BC - 500 AD)

In around 200 BC, the Vistari People migrated to the isle of Krommentrum. (Named after the Vistari words for Curve and Centre) The reason for such a mass exodus from Concord is a hotly debated subject, but it is known the Vistari settled first near the modern day region of Korsland, expanding and displacing the native Elven Population. This eventually led to the growth of settlements along the West Coast and the Vistara River.

Era of Cities (500 - 763)

The Era of Cities, lasting from 500 to 763 AD, was a time in which Vistaraland was dominated by a collection of city states and principalities along the Vistara River and the coasts. Promenant city states of this era, such as the cities of Haliban, Verian, Aisera and Sudka became powerful trade hubs in the region, building spheres of influence amongst the other Vistari States.

Era of Vindication (763 - 1304)

War of the Eastern Frontier (1301-1304)

The War of the Eatern Frontier was a war between the Vistari States led by the Kingdom of Vierbak against the Alvan Empire over the lands that now make up Western Suvania. It lasted from 1301 to 1304, ending with a decisive Vistari victory, with the forces of Hendrik I routing the Khan's forces, forcing a retreat and peace agreement.

Vistari Golden Age (1640 - 1772)

Colonialism in Vivancantadia

In 1642, following the collapse of the Commonwealth the year before, the Vistari Colonial Company settled in ports in southern Arcturia (Modern day Vivancantadia. These ports assisted in trade in the South Concordian Ocean, as well as a stop on trade routes between Aurora and Arcturia.

1709 Bursil Agreement

The Bursil Agreement was a treaty with Great Morstaybishlia signed in Bursil on the 4th May, 1709. It was the first meeting between the Morst and Vistari monarchs, with Emperor Reiner III himself going to Bursil alongside his financial advisor, Willem Metley. They met the current King, Edrudus V, as well as his daughter, whom was soon to be crowned Queen Rosamund I the next year. The treaty saw a major land exchange, with the territories of Vistari South Arcturia and Baldarsland in exchange for the territories of West Salisar and the Vlas Isles. It formalized the positive relations between the two Empires and began an Alliance that is still in affect to this day.

Age of Industry (1792 - 1904)

K'undzeti Purchase

During the 1840s, interest in ambitions of expanding to better reach Auroran markets became common amongst wealthy members of the Vistari Colonial Company. One of these men, Claes Elrickzoon, Baron of Fiskrat and a minor member of the House of Nyvera, saw opportunity in the recovering Grand Republic of Salovia. He met with the Salovian Commerce Advisor - Iakob Gerilishvili - and purchased the island of K'undzeti and the Isles of Peper from Salovia for a sum of 44 Million Gildsmark ($587 million in 2020 SHD), with the treaty signed on the 14th March 1841, with the K'undzeti Purchase ratified on the 20th of the same month, forming the Vistari West Pacific Colonies.

First Nuclear Test

The first nuclear test performed by Vistaraland, called the AV-1, was a 73 kt atmospheric test in Leoland, Chibilaba. The success of this test ensured Vistaraland's place amongst the nuclear powers, with the Imperial Confederation currently in ownership of ~300 warheads.

Joining OFAC

With Vistaraland's history of colonialism within Arcturia, it was decided to allow the nation to serve as a permeant invitee to the Organisation For Arcturian Cooperation on the 4th April, 1965. As a part of OFAC, Vistaraland gained economic ties across the continent of Arcturia through the Dominions of Valerijk. This eventually led to the Valrijkan-Arcturian Diplomacy Treaty in 1984, seeing Valerijk join as a full member of OFAC.

Violet Restoration War (1966 - 1968)

As part of the Violet Front, Vistaraland sent forces to Atlae in support of the Monarchist Forces there. The Vistari Imperial Navy provided support for the Norgsveltian Navy throughout the war, as well as an expeditionary force sent to Concord under the leadership of Wilhelm Brokke.

Many have theorized the exact line of causes that led to the Saint Arend's Crisis, however the main consensus would appear to be the disillusion with the Imperial Advisory Council as a body to adequetely represent the Empire, with the local colonial governments still at the whims of the undemocratic

Recent History

December Missions

The December Missions were a string of diplomatic missions made by Prince Hendrik, Duke of Korsland and Adelbert, Count of Adelisia on behalf of the Empress to ensure support for the new Constitution, with the most notable nations endorsing it being Norgsveldet, Acronis and Asendavia, with the missions being an undoubted success, acting as a precursor for the future ties made between the Vistari and Acronians, as well as a reaffirmation of Vistari Foreign Affairs in Yasteria and the Concordian.

Government & Politics

The Vistari have had a complex relationship with the ideas of democracy and momarchy since the first Imperial Advisory Council of 1786, with democratic ideas being limited under the powers of the Monarchy, with universal suffrage only having been introduced in a very limited form in 1926, while a completely constitutional monarchy was only established in the Second Constitution of 2020, replqcing the Imperial System with a representitive, proportional parlimentary democracy. This new system prides itself on having voices heard from all across the Confederation, though it has not yet stood long enough as an institution to accurately determine the performance of the system.

The Monarchy

The monarch is the Head of State of the Confederation, presently held by Empress Marium of Milba. The Monarchy has been elective since 1786, with the electorate shifting from the Dukes of the Kingdom of Vistaraland to the elected Ducal Representitives and Governers of each state within the Confederation in 2020. Eligable candidates still remain limited to the 16 Dukes and Grand Dukes of the Kingdom of Vistaraland.

Imperial Titles

The Monarch holds many titles in the Empire, though the highest remains Emperor of the Vistara, a title dating back to the first Vistari Emperor in 1304. They also hold the title, as well as their spouse, of King or Queen of the Kingdom of Vistaraland and the 5 Grand Dominions. The idea of a "King of Vistaraland" is a suprisingly recent one, with it being introduced in 1858 by Arend IV to better equalize the prestige of the Vistari Mainland to the newly declared United Dominions of Valerijk. This title would persist as more Vistari Colonies were given Dominion Status, and was reaffirmed in the Second Constitution with the creation of Grand Dominions. The next title all monarchs hold is Archduke of Vierbak. This title, while dating back to the First Constitution, pays homage to the Kingdom of Vierbak dating back to 881 AD. The Archduchy of Vierbak, being the state in which the capital resides, was decided to follow the elective monarchy as a way to avoid clashes between the head of the Empire and the head of its Capital by granted them to the same monarch. The Second Constitution also gave the title "Governer-General of the Dominions", though this title is controversial amongst non-royalist figures in the Empire, eith many calling it "The shadow of Imperialism"

The Monarch may also be granted honourary titles during their reign. These are mostly awarded by the Church, with the Conclave of Vistari Ademarists granting titles based on notable acheivements. The reigning Empress has been awarded with 3 such titles, namely "Defender of the Legacy of Saint Arend", "Uniter of the Confederation" and "Bringer of Democracy". The Conclave traditionally grants epithets to monarchs upon their death, with the previous Emperor, Pieter IV, granted the name "Pieter the Mild" for his calm, well mannered civility when met with provocation.

Imperial Titles also extend outside of the Confederation itself, with the Western Provinces recognizing the Vistari Monarch as "Guardian of the Provinces", as well as the Zapolese Cities of Kamport and Poberhaven recognizing them as "Lord/Lady Patron." After the independance of the Protectorate of Duominzu, the title "High King/Queen of the Monarchs of Duominzu", often shortened to "High King/Queen of Duominzu"

However, an official shortened title may also be used instead, presented as follows:

Kingdom of Vistaraland

Hosting the Imperial Capital of Vierbak, the Kingdom of Vistaraland stands as the heartland of the Confederation. Made up of 16 Duchies - including one Archduchy and six Grand Duchies - on the island of Kromentrum, as well as the Duchy of Kopmaseiland on the island the bears the same name. The Kingdom of Vistaraland is located entirely in Western Yasteria, sharing borders with the Western Provinces and the two Suvanias, as well as a close sea border with the Imperial Republic in the Sea of Alva. It boasts a large population of 70,539,456 and GDP per Capita of $36,524.91, making an impressive GDP of 2.57 trillion SHD, dwarfing the other five constituent entitles that make up the Confederation. While being the homeland of the modern Vistarian Language, it hosts a minority of Noorvic Speakers in the North, seeing a cultural mix of Ulvrikian and Vistarian culture in the region.
