The Tieresh Independence War, also known as the War of Loyalty in Dvalheim was an civil conflict within the Crown State of Langeyjr an member state of the Norgsveltian Imperial Realm during the 1970s. Eventually leading it to the breakup of Langeyjr into what is now Tiervan and Dvalheim in 1980. The war was predominantly fought between the Tieresh Nationalist militia and the Langeyjrian Armed Forces. With the Langeyjrian Government organizing the creation of Tieresh Loyalist militias as its army became depleted. The conflict was sparked by a growing sense of Nationalism and Self Determination among the ethnic Tieresh majority within Langeyjr.

Though its initial cause has been blamed on the aristocratic style of governance within the state which predominantly benefited members of the largely ethnic Norgsveltian nobility in the North. Made worse when Langeyjr’s Prime Minister, Amanda Elisadatur, announced education reforms in 1966 that would place the Norgsveltian language above Tieresh and Dvergian ones. Going against the long norm prior so that was meant to enforce equality between all the three languages. Leading to large amounts of protests and riots across all of Southern Langeyjr, not to just ending the education reforms but also several policies enforced by the Elisadatur’s government that was designed to benefit the Norgsveltian diaspora at the cost of the other ethnic groups on the island.

On the 26th March 1972, members of the Einarist militant organization, the Tieresh Liberation Union (TLU), attacked an Langeyjr military convoy meant to reinforce the government’s control in the country’s rural areas. With it being the first start of the Tieresh Insurgency against Langeyjr. Catching the Langeyjrian Army off guard with its early successes. So much so that by November of 1975 many ethnic Tieresh soldiers deserted to join the TLU. Becoming so much of an issue that the government requested direct Norgsveltian military intervention. In which the Norgsveltian prime minister Jakop Storhaug with permission from Queen Magrete I ordered an expeditionary force of 15k soldiers to support the Langeyjrian Army. Despite military support from Norgsveldet the large unpopularity of the Langeyjrian government eventually turned the conflict increasingly more difficult within Langeyjr. With the Nationalists, through support from the Dvergian Republicanist Front (DRF) and military aid from South Hills, being able to establish full control of the Southern Half of the Island. With the TLU and DRF declaring the formation of the Federal Republic of Tiervan on the 16th August 1977. With Ali Kariabei being declared its first President.

Despite ambitions of the TLU to unify the entire island the Langeyjr Government was able to keep control of the Northern Part of the island as a result of the military leadership from Varg Drugson. With the TLU’s inability to break through the Varg’s Line, and with the new Norgsveltian prime minister, Torstein Knust threatening to withdraw support to Langeyjr forcing both sides to meet up for peace talks in 1980. Despite months of negotiations neither side agreed to a full peace, only being able to agree on a ceasefire on the 9th November 1980 after Drugson couped Elisadatur’s government to finally end the war. With Drugson then renaming the remainder of Langeyjr control to Dvalheim, with Varg Drugson and Torstein Knust agreeing to formalize the independence of Dvalheim a month later. Much to the anger of the Norgsveltian diaspora on the island, viewing the agreement as a betrayal. Though the agreement was well received among Tieresh Loyalists.
