Puffinsby, officially the Sometimes Republic of Puffinsby is a micronation claiming sovereignty over 11.3 acres between Helslandr and the Federation. The micronation has not recognition from any member states of the International Forum. It was founded by twenty people of Puffinsby after noticing they was left off the map and off the official registry of villages of Normand government. The village doesn't pay any taxes to either Helslandr due to the Helslandr Civil War and not to the Federation of the Southern Coast after failing to provide suitable public transit to the village. The current president, Rémy Laurent stated that "We will start paying taxes again, when they [government] returns our bus route to the proud nation." Puffinsby was created in 2015.
The Presidency is selected by drawing straws from a cup, with the shortest straw winning the election. The people of Puffinsby tried to make a flag, but the current president created a law to ban all flags from the country after losing the contest for creating a flag.
History
Most of Puffinsby history was forgotten after long time resident George Maçon moved to the Batkong, Normand and left the position of village historian vacant. The longest serving president, Rémy Laurent became the dictator president of the micronation after throwing the elect straws down and well. Officially declaring his rule over the village as life long to much apathy and the general population carried on.
Lawyer from Batkong, Melisande Bélanger talked to various villagers when her car broke down in 2023. Asking why the villagers haven't just sued to the government of the Federation to return the bus route to the village like other villages have done in the past. President Laurent asked Mrs. Bélanger to leave the country, and charged her with pushing dangerous ideals into the country. The lawsuit against the Public Transit and Organized Walking Paths, a state owned agency of the Federation is still ongoing much to the disagreement of Laurent.
