The New Republic of Puntalia, more commonly referred to simply as Puntalia or East Puntalia, is a nation located on the continent of Arcturia that shares its border with New Puntalia, Rodenia, and Nevez Kaltariezh of Great Morstaybishlia. Established in 2020 by the Puntalia Compromise Treaty, the nation is the result of part internal military coup, part foreign intervention by Rodenia, the latter of which invaded as a result of an alleged communist conspiracy to overthrow the previously established government. The action was condemned by much of the international community, namely members of the NSTO and UCA.
Salovian Colonialism
The nation was the Salovian Arcturian Territory when it was originally formed in the late 1380's by Salovian settlers. After being conquered for a short period by Kormistazm, the territory returned to Salovian hands after the collapse of the Kormistazic successor, the Lousquarii Empire in 1584. From then it remained the central stronghold of the slave trade in Salovia, fueling the production of various cash crops like tobacco, cacao, saffron, sugar cane, and cottonseed oil.
