Statue of Dløfter'uskyldige

The Memorial of the Unborn is a Akuan shrine in Osfjord within the Akuan District there. The memorial was built by a Akuan artist Martine Ny'Foez, a native born Norgsveltian. The memorial was funded by the local Akuan community within Osfjord in 2003, dedicated towards children who died at childbirth and miscarriages. Later on, in 2023 the memorial became a focus point for the anti-abortion movement. The memorial is the traditional view of the Akuan spirit of Dløfter'uskyldige, or the carrier of the innocent/children/babies depending on Nys'tat'en translation.

Location, Design and Firepits

The memorial was built in the center of the Akuan District in Osfjord across from the Lotus Development Bank main office there. The memorial was designed by the artist Martine Ny'Foez, who was inspired by original interpretation of Dløfter'uskyldige, the fox spirit who carried children who died at childbirth or in miscarriages. Dløfter'uskyldige was created out of the miscarriage fetus and the tail from the stillborn who would carry the souls of the dead children into the manor of Vindens Pust and Hjemmebyggergud or in newer interpretations into Akua's own home. Dløfter'uskyldige is considered to be a extremely friendly spirit by Akuan standards, that plays with the children and helps the spirit of the manor (usually Vindens Pust and Hjemmebyggergud) take care of the children while they await their parents in the afterlife. The statue was created with this concept in mind, showing the Dløfter'uskyldige being made from babies. The memorial has a park, surrounding it including a children's playground and a small garden front of it. The garden having a collection of herbs, that in the Borean and Concordian tradition are reserved for funerals. There are two firepits located on the east and the west of the memorial statue. The firepits are technically considered to be chimneys, where individuals slip in pieces of paper with the unborn or miscarried child's name into it. So that Dløfter'uskyldig would see the smoke and carry the child's name to the manor.
