The 2020 Tretridian federal election was held on April 30, 2020 to elect the voting members of the 13th Witenagemot of Ælfric III. The Social Democratic Party of Tretrid (ÞSD) under incumbent prime minister Eoforwine Æthelstanesunu won its best result since 1917 with a parliamentary majority of 252 seats and therefore was able to form the first non-LDP non-coalition government in more than 50 years.
All other parties lost seats in the election. The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) continued the precipitous decline it had entered in 2017, with another record electoral defeat. The Ulvriktru Democratic Party of Tretrid (ÞUD) underperformed to the surprise of many commentators, though it still held on to many of the seats it gained in 2017 from the LDP.
The success of the Social Democrats have largely been attributed to Æthelstanesunu's efforts in passing sweeping transparency and anti-corruption laws in response to the scandal-ridden premiership of his predecessor, Æthelred Wulfricesunu; as well as Æthelstanesunu's generally praised response to the Auroran-Cerenerian War and the Vanoi fever pandemic.
