Pages for discussion (PfD) serves as a centralized location for discussing what to do with potentially problematic pages whose potential move, redirect, merge, archival, or deletion may not be uncontroversial. This roughly follows the procedure of Wikipedia's XFD process, except that it serves to discuss pages in all categories.

This exists for the deletion of articles that should not be speedy deleted. In most cases, speedy deletion occurs in one of two cases:

  • The author requests deletion.
  • A page clearly violates a community policy (usually regarding plagiarism), leading to staff deleting it and "locking it down."

The process to delete a page, using the article on Tretrid as an example, is as follows:

  1. {{pfd}} is added to the top of Tretrid.
  2. A page at TEPwiki:Pages for discussion/Tretrid is created with the contents {{subst:pfd2|pg=Tretrid|text=[reason] --~~~~}}, where [reason] is, quite self explanatorily, the reason that it is up for discussion. For example, {{subst:pfd2|pg=Tretrid|text=Tretrid is really lame and I don't want to deal with it on TEPwiki anymore. --~~~~}}.
  3. A listing is created on this page, in this case, {{subst:pfd3|Tretrid}}, under the current date at the top.
  4. The discussion then happens. Please write a comment on the page itself to create a record of your opinion. Responses here should be bulleted, so they should start with a *. Please state, in one word, your preferred solution in bold, before using the rest of your message to explain your rationale. To reply to someone else's comment, create a new line after the comment you wish to reply to, add :: at the start of the line to indent, and then write your response. Make sure to append all your comments with ~~~~ to mark the comment as yours and to mark the time you made the comment. If you wish to retract a statement, please use <s></s> or {{strikethrough}} to cross out your comment like this.
  5. Once a consensus is reached, the action is completed by someone who can do so (usually an administrator), and the page at TEPwiki:Pages for discussion/Tretrid is appended to have {{subst:pfd top}} '''RESULT'''. ~~~~ at the top and {{subst:pfd bottom}} at the bottom.

Current discussions

Page discussions are indexed by the day they were first listed. Please place new listings at the top of the section for the current day. If no section for the current day is present, please start a new section.
