The Siege Legions are the second-line combat element and primary strategic fires element of the Armed Legions, operating heavy artillery and anti-air batteries supported by light motorized infantry, grenadiers, and airborne attack and airlift elements. Their role in doctrine is to eliminate hostile infrastructure and troops at strategic range, defend land and sea zones through integrated strategic and tactical fires, provide overwatch and tactical support for front-line combat units, and create zones of denial through air and land defense missions. They consist of a Headquarters Company, an Engineering Company, a Support Regiment, two Lancer Regiments, two Artillery Regiments, a Grenadier Regiment, and an Aviation Company. |

Legion Marshal | Ana Isabel de Durans |
The Royal Antoran Armed Legions (Corric: Legiones Armas de Antora Réal, abbreviated LAAR,) is the terrestrial branch of the Royal Antoran Defense Forces. The Legions were founded in 1258 in the Kingdom of Casilló, as a consolidation of the professional men-at-arms cavalry of King Arturo I, which were instrumental in conquering the smaller petty-kingdoms that now made up the state. Over the centuries various Arranzic monarchs would expand upon the Legions until they formed the core of the standing army, ten-thousand strong. When the Kingdom of Réal was conquered and absorbed, the new Kingdom of Corrí doubled the size of the Legions. King Felipé III renamed the army the Royal Corric Armed Legions. Training, modern equipment, and a love of their homeland has always ensured the Legions have been a formidable defense for the Corric people, though their size has diminished in the past two centuries.
The Legions remained intact in the face of the Corric Succession Crisis of 1985. The long history of the service has kept certain traditions alive, including chivalric oaths of fealty to monarch and country. These oaths are considered outdated, but many Legionnaires report that they helped maintain unit cohesion and loyalty in the face of near-fracturing of the royal family. In 2022, the Legions were renamed to the Royal Antoran Armed Legions.
The mission statement of the Legions is to guard the borders of Antoran territory and the lands within from domestic or foreign threats, to protect the people from tyranny, and to exercise the will of the Crown upon the nations enemies. The Armed Legions have a total strength circa 2021 of 115,156 soldiers, support staff, and civilian contractors.
Organization
The branch is headed by the Chief General of the Legions, an appointed position on the Royal Antoran Defense Forces General Staff, while operational control and command of the Legions is given to the Legion Marshal, the most senior commissioned officer in the service. The Armed Legions operate eleven Legions, division sized units with large autonomy. Three Legions are Venture Legions, and are stationed outside Antoran sovereign territory. The Legion Marshal chairs the Board of Generals, which is populated by the commanding officers of each of the Legions, and overseers administrative and operational objectives for the service. The current Chief General is Salvador Ballester, previously General of the 3rd Legion. The current Legion Marshal is Ana Isabel de Durans, the Countess Durans.
Armed Legions Structure
The Armed Legions are based around the concept of the Lanza, or Lance. Historically, the basic military unit of Antoran chivalry was a mounted and armored man-at-arms, a caballero, accompanied by a mounted and almost-as-well armored squire, one or two mounted archers and an armed servant. A group of three to six lances was called a Fila, or File. A similar number of Files was known as an Escuadrón, or Squadron. These terms have been adopted by the Armed Legions as the official classifications for unit structure. Squad-sized units are Lances, up to platoon-sized Files, company-sized Squadrons, battalion-sized Companies up through Regiments, a term used for both the typical unit of that term as well as brigades, and then to division-sized Legions. There are four types of Legion: Mobile, Armored, Siege, and Venture.
Mobile Legions
The Mobile Legions are the primary maneuver element of the Armed Legions, operating mechanized infantry integrated with various artillery fires and airborne elements. Their role in doctrine is to use their motorized and mechanized capabilities to react to hostile movements, providing a flexible option to deal with changes in enemy deployment, pin and reconnoiter hostile forces for other units, penetrate hostile territory to destroy infrastructure and rear-echelon units, and act as a reserve in other situations. They each consist of a Headquarters Company, Engineering Company, a Support Regiment, three Mobile Rifle Regiments, an Armored Company, an Artillery Regiment, an Aviation Company, and a Supply Regiment.
- 1st Mobile Legion - "King's Own Orange Dragoons." Headquartered at Fort Antoniuys. 1792 - Present.
- 2nd Mobile Legion - "Crimson Raptor Fusiliers." Headquartered at Fort Guadalatancre. 1832 - Present.
- 3rd Mobile Legion - "Patented Southern Rangers." Headquartered at Fort Liti. 1849 - Present.
Armored Legions
The Armored Legions are the heavy frontline combat element of the Armed Legions, operating armored cavalry escorted by mechanized infantry, supported by artillery fires and airborne elements. Their role in doctrine is to secure territory to the rear of maneuvering Mobile Legions, close with enemy strong points and defeat them using firepower, shock action, and envelopment, providing the primary breakthrough power, and acting as hunter-killer groups for hostile thrusts. Armored Legion units typically have the highest concentration of heavy armor, with at least 40% of all vehicles being heavy or medium tanks, or else tank hunters and ATGM platforms. They each consist of a Headquarters Company, an Engineering Company, a Support Regiment, three Armored Cavalry Regiments, one Armored Infantry Regiment, one Armored Artillery Company, one Aviation Company, and a Supply Regiment.
- 1st Armored Legion - "King's Own Armored Cavalry." Headquartered at Fort Diego. 1792 - Present.
- 2nd Armored Legion - "Malama Violet Cavaliers." Headquartered at Fort Marius. 1840 - Present.
Siege Legions
- 1st Siege Legion - "King's Own Orange Bombadiers." Headquartered at Fort Descarai. 1588 - Present.
- 2nd Siege Legion - "Bronze Bell Legion." Headquartered at Fort Tranquíla. 1612-Present.
- 3rd Siege Legion - "Thunder Third Cannoneers." Headquartered at Fort Guadalatancre. 1832 - Present.
Ranks
The military ranks of the Armed Legions conform to the International Standard Order of Personnel format used by many modern militaries, including INTRA. Ranks are worn on the collar, sleeves, cuffs, and epaulettes of dress uniforms, and the right arm and collar of battle dress uniforms.
