The Provisional Government (abbreviated to the PG, commonly known as the Government of the Wealdenite Republic, Wealdenite Provisional Government or WR Goverment) is the central executive authority of the Wealdenite Republic. The provisional government is led by the first minister (currently Cathryn Gargano, since 15 May 2023) who selects all the other ministers. The government was formed after the 2023 Cappedorite coup d'état, which saw the previous government of Cappedore replaced.
Ministers of the Republic are responsible to the National Assembly; they make statements there and take questions from its members. The government is dependent on assembly to make primary legislation, and the government is fairly new and is intended, as stated by Gargano, to only be a temporary measure while the assembly works on drafting and processing a new concordat. The provisional government is said to only be a "temporary measure", with plans to complete the apparatus for a new Wealdenite government to be complete by June 2023.
The government is sometimes referred to as 'The Oracle', for that is where its primary operations take place in the capital city of Absolution.
History
The provisional government was formed on May 15th, 2023, after a mass walk out of CSDP MGs triggered the coup a day prior. Gargano's provisional concordat offered a "fresh start" for the people of the union.
