Prince Kujil (born Kujil a-Sajahal Bedon) is a politician and prince of Packilvania and member of the Bedonite dynasty. He is the son of the former Governor of Shakar, Prince Sajahal a-Amhoud Bedon. He is the paternal grandchild of Sultan Amhoud II and first cousins of Sultan Thumim V and Prince Abuyin. He is the former Governor of Kemer. He was charged for corruption according to the law of Packilvania and tried in the High Court. He escaped police custody and fled to the Free Pax States. He provided information to the Packilvanian State Security Agency (one of the intelligence agencies of Packilvania) on the attempted assassination of Sultan Thumim V during the state visit of the President of United Malordia in a bid to have the charges of corruption dropped. He was captured by Packilvanian authorities in Blueacia and transported by air from the Prince Harmeus International Airfield to Bingol when it was discovered that he was the mastermind of the assassination attempt.

Corruption charges

The Commission of Inquiry into Corruption in Kemer, known as the Ivandor Commission after its chairman, Juhal Ivandor, published an investigation on 22 April 2022 which discovered that Prince Kujil was at the center of systemic tender fixing, nepotism, abuse of power, improper awarding of contracts etc in the Kemer local government.[1]

Prince Kujil was arrested by Packilvanian law enforcement for allegations of corruption while he was the governor of Kemer.[2] SEY News cited his arrest as a positive indicator of Packilvania's assertive attitude toward corruption. Because Princes of the Bedonite dynasty are legally insulated from prosecution, the Imperial Procurator had to make an application to then Regent, Thumim V, which he granted. Prince Kujil was dismissed from his position of the governor of Kemer and replaced with the interim Governor, the Duke of Obran.[3]

Fugitive

He fled custody from Packilvanian authorities and fled to the Free Pax States where he applied for asylum after Prince Alawadun revoked his diplomatic visa and froze all assets in banks in Packilvania.[4] The National Security Division of the Bingol High Court issued a warrant that allowed authorities to seize or execute him on site because the Department of State Security under Prince Lohadek presented a case that he was a national security threat in terms of the Protection of State Secrets Act.[5] This triggered Prince Imayad, the Minister of Home Affairs, to issue a temporary travel block on princes in terms of the Travel and Passports Act.[6] On 23 May 2022, Ilahadeen Muramid, the Ambassador of Packilvania to the Free Pax States sent a formal extradition request on behalf of the government of Packilvania to extradite Prince Kujil.[7]

Interview with the Defiant

Prince Kujil was interviewed by Agatha Grey. He claimed that the accusations were baseless. He stated that as a Prince, it was his right to enjoy imperial immunity from prosecution. He questioned Namdun III's decision to appoint Prince Thumim as regent and claimed he was an illegitimate ruler. He claimed that Prince Thumim was obstructing the modernisation reforms that he was implementing in Kemer. In the interview, the Prince described the LGBT+ community as morally debased and he claimed women are inferior to men, and that the rights of women and the LGBT+ community are not markers of political, social and economic progress. He chided Prince Thumim for his alleged attack on the Princes of the country.[8] He was criticised as a bigot by Paxist priest and Free Paxian queer rights activist, Lohaad Duhal, for the remarks that he made in the interview.[9]
