The Packilvanian Army (Packilvanian: luJahedeen aBakhilfaniya) is the land based branch of the Packilvanian Armed Forces. The Packilvanian Army is the oldest branch of the armed forces of Packilvania. It was formally established in 1985 but it is a continuation of the land-based military history of Packilvania. It was formed from the unification of the Warriors of Mercy and the People's Liberation Army Land Branches which in turn trace their origins to the Imperial Army of the Demirite dynasty that preceded them.

History

The Packilvanian Army was formally established in 1985 when the newly established Parliament of Packilvania passed a law to reorganise the military and paramilitary forces in Packilvania. This process entailed the amalgamation of the land combat branches of the Warriors of Mercy (the military wing of the Carriers of Mercy) and the People's Liberation Army Land Forces of the Packilvanian Communist Party. The first Chief of the Army was General Najid Farmoud, the former head of the land branch of the Warriors of Mercy who was responsible for overseeing the amalgamation of the two bodies.

This entailed overseeing reforms to the ranking systems of the two bodies to bring them into harmony. It involved retrenching some people in both bodies and moving people to different positions and changing the structure of sub units such as regiments and brigades. It involved establishing schools for training and overseeing the reeducation of members who were in the Army under the Communist Party to align with the new political order of the institution. General Najid Farmoud was replaced by Prince Tarjad in 1991 when he resigned due to pressure from the Bedonite dynasty so that they could entrench their control over the military.

Prince Tarjad continued the restructuring process undertaken under General Farmoud. He modernised the recruitment process with a view to bringing in new recruits and raising soldiers trained in the newly established and reformed military academies to positions of leadership to infuse the body with new ideas and displace the entrenched loyalties to the Carriers of Mercy and the Communist Party. Disputes over mandatory early retirement policies under this policy led to a mutiny by the 675th Regiment at the Hardahan Army Base in protest of the reform that saw the mutineers stripped of their positions and arrested, styming efforts at resistance to the reforms. The changes introduced were criticised for undermining the combat capabilities of the military by removing crucial skills from older members however the government persisted and prioritised its control over the military.

In part, these reforms made it difficult for Packilvania to pursue many of its military objectives including taking back Tasselvalta. Prince Tarjad resigned as the Chief of the Army in 2003 and was replaced by Prince Thudayn. Prince Thudayn oversaw the ground invasion of Tasselvalta in the Tasselvalta War. He also oversaw the deployment of Packilvanian Army forces to the border of Pax-Draconica with the Vekaiyun Union that resulted in minor skirmishes between the two sides due to disputes over water access and animal grazing rights over their border on the Tal'avero Mountains.
