History

(To modify)

Mercorea was born in 1543 from the union of various kingdoms and duchies, the most important being the Mupek empire and the Principality of Clemon. To lead the new kingdom initially there was a sort of great council of electors made by the various sovereigns who appointed the great sultan. In 1764 it was abolished by Sultan Matheo who declared Mercorea an absolute monarchy. Matheo was the progenitor of the Klaus dynasty that I will rule Mercorea for over two centuries.

In 1862 Sultan Alvert tried to reform the state, creating a national parliament, the Nevert, a government, the Flek. He also issued a constitution, the Alvert statute in which he granted part of his power to the new parliament and the government, citizens were given rights as well as duties.

A few decades later in 1893, Sultan Derv using the exceptional clause that gave the sovereign full powers abolished both parliament and government and created an advisory body, the Query, which decisions were not binding.

Between the 20th and 21st centuries , Mercorea emerged as a middle power in the Araforsian region through its resource-wealth, as well as its globally expanding media group, Sun Media Network, and reportedly supporting several rebel groups financially during the Dømin war.

Human rights

Mercorea's human rights record has been regarded by academics and non-governmental organisations as being generally poor, with restrictions on civil liberties such as the freedoms of association, expression and the press, as well as its treatment of thousands of migrant workers amounting to forced labour for projects in the country.
