LAC - Chianski Airlines (LAC - Linhas Aéreas de Chianski E.E) also commonly known as Airlines of Chianski is a state-owned airline and flag carrier of Chianski. Based out of Telver, the airline operates domestic services within Chianski and international services to other countries. The airline was originally set up as Chianski Flying Services in 1959 under the Morstaybishlian Administration and was renamed to Airlines of Chianski in 1970 and became the flag carrier in 1971. It was nationalised and reorganised as Linhas Aéreas de Chianski in 2006 following a series of scandals and hijackings and has been gradually expanding and growing since the mid 2010s.

History

In 1959, in partnership with the backing of the Morstaybishlian millionaire Darwin Kaylen, local pilot Ted Kasey founded Chianski Flying Services and purchased a number of small aircraft. In June 1959, Chianski Flying Services opened its main base in Telver, after it won a number of Empire contracts for airmail and transport services between the Chianskian Islands.

On 29 April 1967, International Air Traders purchased a 62% sharehold in the company after CFS, in desperate need of funds for new propeller aircraft and planned new jet aircraft, approached IAT to purchase a major share. The Morstaybishlian Administration in Chianski approved the purchase and then subsequently purchased the remaining 38% themselves in November 1967. It was rebranded as Airlines of Chianski in July 1970 and operated it's first international route in February 1971.

In 1977 Airlines of Chianski acquired Asurina Aviation Services and begun transferring light aviation services to it, focusing primarily on international and domestic travel. Asurina Aviation Services was sold off and became independent in 1995 to finance the purchase of two F1000s and eventually became the highly-successful Chianskian General Aviation Company (COMAG) in 2000.

Following the socialist revolution in 2004 the airline was not immediately nationalised and remained majority owned by the foreign International Air Traders company. During this period a series of scandals involving large-scale corruption in the sale of tickets, theft of aircraft, and hi-jacking occurred. The airline was nationalised in early 2006 amid charges of 'economic sabotage' and a wave of arrests of senior management and personnel at Airlines of Chianski. Following this the airline was restructured and renamed to LAC – Linhas Aéreas de Chianski in Chianskian rather than the previous Staynish names.

In 2015 the airline embarked on a long term fleet overhaul and reorganisation process, retiring a number of older models to reduce fleet size and focus on optimising existing routes. The airline continues to operate a number of older aircraft, particularly it's DF-160 that is one the last of it's type remaining in passenger service as of 2024. A fleet modernisation program begun in 2022 and will see the retirement of the DF-210 to be replaced by a DF-211ER.
