2001 Esteiran presidential election
Presidential elections were held in Esteira on March 31, 2001. Incumbent Luis Souza of the Esteiran People's Party defeated Eduardo Resendes of the National Liberal Party with 61.55% of the vote. Souza was inaugurated for his third term on May 1, 2001.

The election was decried internationally as illegitimate, as widespread voter intimidation, fraud, and political violence was reported leading up to and on election day.
