The Welfare Coalition is a coalition government that has been the main governing body of Cappedore since the 2010 general election. Consisting of the Cappedorite Social Democratic Party and the Cappedore Liberal Union, it was formed on 10 May 2010, after the CSDP failed to meet the required threshold to achieve a majority in the Gemotern. Since the formation of the coalition, the CSDP has not achieved an overall majority in the Gemotern, signalling a continuation of the government.

History

On May 5th, 2010, the day after the 2010 Cappedore general election, incumbent Chancellor Keir Crosland visited then Liberal leader Vikki Slade to discuss a potential coalition between the CSDP and the CLU in the Gemotern, after the CSDP fell 13 seats short of a required majority.

In 2016, Slade would resign as Liberal Union leader, First Deputy Chancellor, and subsequently from the Gemotern as a whole to focus on a potential presidential campaign in 2019. She would be replaced by Thomas Coleman.

In 2018, Maya Murray would praise the existence of the coalition, stating it as a "beacon of liberty and unity in a nation stronger together because of it."
