Even without its colonies, Tretrid has historically been one of the premier powers of Novaris, which would often bring it into conflict with other nations. From the late 18th Century onwards, Tretrid often clashed with [[Arkalarius]] in a power struggle over Novaris, leading to the two countries being on opposing sides of the [[Great War]] and eventually culminating in the Novaran Cold War throughout the 20th Century.
