Saga(born 15 March, 1978) is the Duchess of Tynam and Storlund. She has held this title since 17 June, 2010. The eldest child of Duke Ögge of Tynam and Gazny Nurai, Saga also took control of the Tynam Egendom and most of the House of Tynam's estimated 20 billion SHD net worth.

Childhood

Saga was born on 15 March, 1978 at Symningborg Castle near Tynam. Her father was Duke Ögge of Tynam. Her mother was Gazny Nurai, the only daughter of Gazny Chīrén, then the Governor of Gazny Khot.

Saga had one twin brother, Turlan. In accordance with typical local naming conventions, Saga and Turlan were given separate Tynami names - Turyana and Siban respectively. As a result of their parents' often tumultuous marriage, both Saga and her brother spent much of their childhoods with their mother's family in Gazny Khot.

Education

Saga was initially raised in Gazny Khot before returning to Leidenstad and enrolled in the Eglistanes Secondary School. She later declined to apply for a deferral or exemption from Cryria's National Service System and elected to complete the full two years of mandatory service with the Regiment of Coastal Jaegers, apparently out of a desire to not return home to Symningborg where circumstances remained tense. At this time, it had been assumed that her brother, Turlan, was the favored successor to the Duchy. However, an apparent tryst and later marriage between Turlan and Alessia Ciresi in Charlottesborg generated the disapproval of both the Duke and the Duchess and created new rifts within the household.

Saga went on to attend the Leidenstad Military Academy and graduated in 2002.

Foreign Legion(2002-2010)

Saga was commissioned as an officer in the Cryrian Foreign Legion just prior to the beginning of the Volscine Civil War and the Cryrian Millennium Crisis. The outbreak of the Charlottesborg Mutiny and the storming of the Cryrian consulate there resulted in Turlan's death. This left Saga as the sole viable successor to the Duchy of Tynam. Saga herself was soon afterwards among the Foreign Legion units deployed to evacuate Cryrian citizens from Charlottesborg International Airport.

She briefly entered the public spotlight when the Ministry of Defense published imagery of her drinking with an unidentified Charlottesborger officer at a partially destroyed Royal Rodoka coffee shop. The recordings were utilized to promote the legitimacy of the operation and to maintain the image of Cryrian-Charlottesborger cooperation at a time when relations between the two parties were coming under severe strain. Saga was also reportedly present at a physical altercation that broke out between Cryrian and Charlottesborger commanders over the treatment of captured rebels.

CDF records indicate that Saga remained in the Foreign Legion for several years afterwards and was among those deployed during the Ellesborg Emergency as well as other Cryrian operations during the Millennium Crisis. She later ended her commission in 2010 as the executive officer for the Legion 1st Infantry Battalion.

Duchess of Tynam(2010-Present)

On 17 June, 2010, Duke Ögge of Tynam passed away from lung cancer. A brief legal battle over the inheritance of the Egendom ensued between Saga and her cousin, Gjur Tynam. The matter was ultimately settled in Saga's favor.

Political Activities

Saga also inherited the House of Tynam's seat on the Första Kammaren, which marked the beginning of her involvement with Cryrian politics. The Duchess was one of the key backers of the Remembrance of Sixty-Four, a political committee whose name referred to the sixty-four Cryrian citizens killed at the Charlottesborg Consulate. The group harshly criticized the failure of the Schaumann Government to evacuate Cryrian civilians prior to Charlottesborg's exit ban alongside the general paralysis displayed during the early days of the crisis. Remembrance was ultimately a contributing factor in both destroying the Green Party's bid to regain power and in removing Schaumann himself as leader of the party.

Other activities at this time related to Tynam's unique position within Cryria as a culturally and linguistically distinct region. The final settlement of the Northern Waters Dispute in 2002 also allowed for a wider rapprochement between Cryria and Älemsi Negdel, and by the 2010s this had led to the start of a gradual political realignment of Tynam as well. Without the overhanging threat of conflict with the Negdel, Tynami politicians became more willing to break from their traditional conservative allies and push for various forms of autonomy and cultural recognition within the Kingdom.

Despite initially strong support for the Conservative Party through the Remembrance movement, Saga has moved along with this trend in a limited fashion. The Duchess has been a significant advocate within the Riksdag for reforming legacy Albertine-era restrictions on the usage of languages other than Cryrian in government and in the education system. She is also a notable supporter of continuing to pursue closer relations with Älemsi Negdel, a country with which the Duchess still has close personal ties with due to her upbringing in Gazny Khot, and her familial connections to Governor Gazny Zamira.

As with her predecessors, Saga has also acted as a voice for other, more longstanding Tynami issues such as the allocation of additional funding for the Duchy. Among these was long-running controversies around the Special Labor Visa Program with Nystatiszna, particularly the importation of low-wage Nystatinne workers into the Cryrian fishing industry, who directly competed with smaller Tynami operations. Tynami politicians including the Duchess were among the main supporters of removing Nystatiszna from the Special Labor Visa Program, and ultimately succeeded in this goal by July 2022. As Tynam has only seven seats in the Andra Kammaren, the Ducal seat in the otherwise heavily ceremonial Första Kammaren has historically played an important role in raising Tynam's political profile and in ensuring access to various committee assignments.

The House of Tynam was until 2020 the owner of the Sword of the Crashing Moon, one of the Three Swords taken from Aikthudr'zhur during the sack of Highdrilian. The swords were required for Aikkian coronation ceremonies, and in 2019 the Cryrian government began an initiative to return the stolen blades as a part of a wider effort to improve ties with mainland Novaris. Saga agreed to repatriate the sword in her possession on the request of Queen Ulrika II. She was also more directly involved in Foreign Ministry-sponsored economic outreach efforts towards Yasteria.

The Duchess stepped back from her committee assignments shortly after her engagement to the Crown Prince of Packilvania, and Tynam's Första Kammaren seat is expected to pass on to Evaline Tynam.

Tynam Egendom

Despite some opposition from within her family, Saga largely consolidated control of the House of Tynam's financial assets by 2011. The Tynam Egendom is generally considered to be the second- or third-largest in the Kingdom. At the time the Egendom encompassed ownership of industrial conglomerates like the Polstjärnan Group, minority stakes in the Mandate of Ellesborg, as well as inherited landholdings under the Tynam-Storlund Ducal Estates which reportedly raise around 30 million SHD in annual incomes.

Saga was initially far less involved in the day-to-day operations of these businesses than her predecessors due to her largely nonexistent background with them. However, the opening of the Älemsi economy to foreign investment throughout the 2010s made her presence within the Egendom an important factor thanks to her personal connections with the ruling family of Gazny Khot. Polstjärnan secured numerous Älemsi infrastructure contracts during this period in cooperation with the Gazny Industrial Group. This resulted in a series of lawsuits by Marlberg AB over alleged corruption, though they were withdrawn soon afterwards.

The Tynam Egendom was also found to be connected to the formation of a new Gazny Khot-based entity called Arna Group Holdings. It is believed that since 2018, Arna Group functioned as a front for Cryrian assistance to Älemsi Negdel during the Ymirland Civil War. Since 2020 Arna has continued to serve as a private contractor that provides consulting services to Älemsi Negdel as it restructures its Autonomous Militia system. Arna has also provided various services for the Ellesborg Militia and the government of Serramal, and in 2021 became the parent company of VN Strategic Communications.

Since the announcement of the Duchess' engagement to the Crown Prince of Packilvania, it is expected that many of the Tynam Egendom's assets will be transferred to Evaline Tynam or Gazny Zamira.

Philanthropy

The House of Tynam remains one of the main backers of the Cryrian Blue Rose, which provides international sapientarian assistance in developing countries. Notable Tynami institutions such as the University of Tynam also receive grants from the House, and the Tynam Ducal Gallery is one of the largest publicly available art collections in the Kingdom. During her reign, the Duchess also opened the Neelttei Talbaruud Foundation, which initially sought to mitigate the increasingly severe health and environmental impacts of the raw coal burning stoves used by many Älemsi households for basic heating. The Foundation has since expanded to fund education and development initiatives in the rural Älemsi interior.

The Alessia Ciresi Foundation was similarly established in 2010 to assist with the reconstruction of Charlottesborg and provide support to displaced Volscine civilians in the aftermath of the civil war. The Foundation's activities in Charlottesborg were wound down in 2020, but it continues to provide assistance for other refugee communities in Cryria.

Since 2015, Saga has also been one of the sponsors of the Cryrian National Climate Conference.
