Royal assent is a practice in monarchies whereby the monarch recognises a bill passed by their countries legislature as an act of the realm. This normally constitutes the last step in the promulgation of laws. In some countries, this step is largely symbolic while in others the monarch has real discretion in exercising this power and can veto laws through it. Some nations allow their sovereign to veto laws by withholding royal assent but they give their legislatures the power to override it. Republics have similar concepts which might be known by terms such as presidential assent.
Royal assent by country
- Antora: The Rége of Antora has discretion in granting royal assent however a four-fifths vote of the House of the Populace and the House of the Nobility
- Cryria: The Queen of Cryria has grants royal assent and the Andra Kammeren can present a bill for royal assent without the approval of the Forsta Kammeren with a 2/3 majority.
- Drakkengard: The King of Drakkengard has discretion in granting royal assent and cannot be overruled by the Parliament of Drakkengard.
- Great Morstaybishlia: Although the King of Great Morstaybishlia has the power to withhold royal assent of any bill passed by the Parliament of Great Morstaybishlia, he must exercise that power with the advice of the Prime Minister of Great Morstaybishlia. As most laws are proposed by the Cabinet of Great Morstaybishlia and the parliament is controlled by the ruling party or coalition, the King rarely withholds royal assent.
- Oan Isles: The Rangitanga-a-te-Moana can only withhold serene assent on the advice of the Prime Minister of the Oan Isles, which he is unlikely to grant given that most laws are proposed by the Cabinet of the Oan Isles and passed by the ruling party or coalition in the National Assembly of the Oan Isles
- Packilvania: In the politics of Packilvania, the Sultan of Packilvania has the discretion to withhold royal assent (which is known as imperial assent), whereby a Bill is blocked from becoming part of the law of Packilvania and the Parliament of Packilvania cannot override his veto.
