The Royal Intelligence Service (RIS) is the foreign intelligence agency of Tretrid, tasked with covertly gathering information of strategic interest to Tretridian national security. It is one of the two intelligence agencies of Tretrid, along with its security intelligence and counterintelligence counterpart in the Domestic Security Service. It is considered part of the Tretridian Ministry of Defense, but largely operates autonomously.
While the RIS was formed in 1903, it saw major expansion during the Great War and would maintain its size and budget throughout the Novaran Cold War. The RIS's existence was not officially acknowledged until 2005 and its operations remain highly classified from even other government agencies.
