North Westmore, officially the Republic of North Westmore and known informally as Westmore or Northern Westmore, is a nation of 8 million inhabitants located on an island between Antilla and Arcturia. Surrounded entirely by the South Concordian Ocean, North Westmore shares no immediate borders with any other countries, being closest to South Hills and Valerijk in the north and New Leganes and Alksearia in the south respectively.

Before 1965, North Westmore was part of a larger state known as the Democratic Republic of Westmore, which after a violent civil war over clashing ideologies occurred in the nation broke down entirely and ceased to exist as a functioning country. The war itself is known in Westmorian history as The Split, as it caused the country to implode and break down into two successor states, North Westmore and the Southern States. Of the two successor states, North Westmore is the only one which survives to the current day.

Etymology

The original name of Westmore was derived from explorers hailing from Arcturia, who observed how far west the island was of the mainland. Before the colonial era however, indigenous natives of the island often called it "Sadoriwymmu" or "Medega," with both terms being believed to translate to "country" depending on the context it is being used in.
