The Marmotta Clan was a notorious organized crime syndicate based in the state of Afragola in Phoenixia. The clan was involved in a range of illegal activities, including loan sharking, racketeering, tobacco and cigar trafficking. They may have also been involved in the trade of alcohol and drugs.

History

The Marmotta Clan was founded by Vincenzo Marmotta, also known as Papa Vinnie, in the early 20th century. Under his leadership, the clan established itself as one of the most powerful criminal organizations in Afragola. For some years, the clan was employed by the NAC, a corporation that colonized Afragola and which practically controlled a large part of the state economy. The clan's association with NAC allowed it to increase its power and influence in the region.

The Marmotta Clan was involved in the infamous Plaza Verde massacre, which occurred in 1928. Vincenzo Marmotta, the founder of the clan, ordered the attack, which effectively ended the power of the rival Verde Street Boys gang.

The massacre was a brutal and violent event that claimed the lives of numerous individuals.

The Plaza Verde massacre is remembered as one of the most significant events in Afragola's history, with its impact felt throughout the state.

In 1970 Vinnie retired from the criminal scene and passed control of the clan to his son Martino. Martino died in 1992 killed in a blitz by the federal police; he chose Pietro De SanPaolo as successor.

The Marmotta Clan continued to operate throughout the latter half of the 20th century, withstanding numerous law enforcement operations. However, in the 2000s, the clan experienced a violent internal clash that resulted in the Mafia Guerrilla, a miniature conflict between the federal state and the various mafia organizations operating in Afragola. This conflict ultimately led to the the arrest of many of its members and collapse of the Marmotta Clan.
