Jeanne has a complex history with her ethnic background due her being adopted into a multicultural/multi-ethnic background at a very young age. Due to her early child abuse, she had several issues with her educational and cultural development. Due to her closeness to her adoptive mother, she more aligned with her ethnic group of Ny'Zéakife despite not conforming to all of the ethnic customs nor being a kemonomimi she was nevertheless generally accepted by the Ny'Zéakife as per adoption customs. She stated she aligned more with her mother's ethnic group than her fathers due her adoptive father ethnic group being less accepting of adoption into the group than the her mother's ethnic group. While she more or less aligns more to the Ny'Zéakife ethnic group, she often refers herself to Côtois as a ethnicity rather than a Ny'Zéakian. Aligning more with her nationality, than ethnic group outright.
