Ewenshire (/juːnˈʃɜːr/ (YOON-shir) or /juːnˈʃɑːjɜːr/ (YOON-shai-er)) is a constitutional monarchy located in the middle of Arcturia. The country is politically and culturally comprised of 10 shires. The country’s upper house is the Convention, which is comprised of 5 delegates, called a "guild," from each shire. The lower house is the Chamber of Commons, which is comprised of one representative for each of the 300 electoral districts. Ewenshire’s largest and most economically important city is Coeloch. Ewenshire is bordered only by Alksearia to its northwest, with the Green Hills Mountain Range forming most of its northwestern border.
Settlement of the Eweic peoples into the cradle of the mid Arcturia mountains began roughly 20,000 years ago. Various Eweic tribes fought over control of what is now called the midlands because of the abundance of rivers in that region.
