The Republic of Duelland (RD), commonly known as the Duelland or The Republic is federal republic composed of 8 states "Duelist, Pentium Terram, and Duela". The 8 states of Duelland are contiguous and located east coast of Novaris between Nacata and Prussia.

Various Nacaton tribes have inhabited the northern parts of modern Duelland since classical antiquity. A region named Pollokia was documented before 167 CE. Beginning in the 1200, Duelland territories formed a central part of the Nacaton Empire . During the 16th century, northern Duelland was annex by Kalatianburg. After Kuthernburg succeeded from MBE Duelland was annex as part of Nacata before a revolution in 1900 that allowed Duelland to became a independent nations.

Today, Duelland is a federal parliamentary republic led by a president. With 39 million inhabitants of its 8 constituent states, it is one of the most populous country in Eastern Novaris. Its capital city is Duelland City and Largest city Duel City which is apart of the Greater Pollok Metropolitan Area, and its financial center is Lochmount City.

Duelland is a great power with a strong economy; , the fourth-largest economy in Novaris by nominal GDP, and the fifth-largest by PPP. As a global leader in several industrial and technological sectors, it is both the Novaris fourth-largest exporter and importer of goods. A highly developed country with a very high standard of living, it offers social security and a universal health care system, environmental protections, and a tuition-free university education. Duelland is also a member of the Peacekeeping Forces Of Urth, NSTO, League Of Novaris and the OMC. Known for its long and rich cultural history, Duelland has many World Heritage sites and is among the top tourism destinations in the world.

Natives Arrival (900s-1763)

Natives arrive to Duelland from the center of Novaris around 900s and they moved in search for better soils to bear fruits and land to build villages. The Natives were called the Barbari by the settler who arrived to Duelland coast later on. The Barbari developed beautiful architecture and they build enormous village that some had population of 150,000 or higher. The Barbari developed advanced weapons such as the Arcum er Saggita, the Gladios, and the Aqoaw. The Barbari cultures prospered throughout the 1300s to 1470s, there were approximately 23 tribes in Duelland around 1500s, each had their own language, cultures, and religions. In 1515, the Barbari population was around 1.2 million.

Settlers Settled in (1763-1795)

Settlers arrived to Duelland northern coast in 1763, they settled because they were seeking religious freedom and they arrived with only 240 settlers on 5 ships. They were met with the Barbari, the settlers didn't like the Barbari because they thought they were evil and did not like their religions. In 1767, more than 3000 settlers arrived to Duelland and they were planning to create their own country called the Dictatorship of Duelland, which led to conflict with the Barbari. By 1774, there was more than 15,000 settlers living in Duelland and they started to push the Barbari from their lands and claimed it as their own, which angered the Barbari. In 1778, the Barbari launched a surprise attack on one of the villages, killed more than 200 settlers and destroyed the village. This created mini wars between them and in 1780 Kasey Jeffry; leader of the settlers decided to destroy all of the Barbari villages and kill all of their people, over half of the population villages were destroyed, many Barbari died of inhalation of smoke and diseases. Over a quarter of the Barbari population was gone by 1786 and in 1790 half of the population was gone as well. In 1763 the Barbari population was 1.1 million and in 1790 the Barbari population was 412,500 due to diseases, war, starvation, and massacres.

Dictatorship of Duelland (1795-1894)

In 1795, the Duelland colonists population grew significantly from 3,000 to 45,000 people, Kasey Jeffry decided to create the Dictatorship of Duelland and he hosted an election for himself where he was the only one to vote and he voted for himself. He ran a campaign about how he was chosen by God to rule over them, he didn't want to be called a Monarch but a Dictator according to his journal. The Duelland continued to grow in population and economy, the conflict between Duelland and Barbari continued. In 1801 Kasey Jeffry decided to end the Barbari once and for all, he invented a cannon that had poison powder that spread in a 2 mile radius when launched. He launch it in two of Barbari largest cities and killed over 200,000 Barbari's in 2 days. The Barbari population was declining before the attack and after the attack there was no more than 80,000 Barbari in Duelland. Most colonists were either farmers or privateers, but later on other jobs developed in few decades. Cash crop included coffee, cocoa, sugar cane, bananas, oranges, and cotton. Duelland began to produced boats and beverages. Duelland coastal city began to serve as trade hubs to help Duelland economy. By 1834, Duelland was growing rapidly from 45,000 to 760,000 because of high birth rate and low death rates, plus immigrants coming to Duelland. In 1837, Dictator Kasey Jeffry died of a heart attack and his son Austin Jeffry took over. He was very religious and led Christian movements throughout Duelland, he wanted to convert people into Christianity. The movement was called the Great Revival, more of than 90% of the population was Christian by 1840. He began to execute people that didn't convert or believe in Christianity, this angered some of Duelland most important priests and pastors. They believed that everybody had the right worship whoever but they wanted them to believe that there is only one God. In 1875, Austin Jeffry imposed taxes on everything which bothered and angered the people of Duelland, he continued to impose taxes on everything and he started to take 90% of the income of the colonists which led to rebellions and riots. In 1884, a riot broke out in the Duelland capital and several leaders were injured, this angered the Dictator and he send over 1,000 troops to burn several cities to scare the rioter. Tensions grew higher and higher.

The Duelland Revolution And Dictatorship Overthrown (1894-1904)

In 1894, a group of rioter decided to form a militia of 4,000 people and they decided to declare for independence from The Dictatorship of Duelland, Austin Jeffry denied their request. In May of 1895, the militia was hiding their weapons in a shed in Lockward, which led the Dictatorship trying to confiscate it, but it led to an open firefight between the militia and Dictatorship troops. The militia appointed Colin Wilson to command the newly founded Republic Army and he attempted to take over the capital Jeffie which fail miserably. Then Commander Hubert Forrest launched a Dictatorship counter offensive, by capturing Raxon city which was a big blow for Colin Wilson and the Republic army. However the Republic army came back with an three victories at Novronio, Pona, and Togate which help them. Commander Forrest led his army to another victory in Yhora and a huge defeat in Ginron. In 1898, the Dictatorship were losing the war and they knew that they needed to do something in order to get back the war, so they started burning crops in the farms where the Republic occupied and this didn't help the Dictatorship. In November of 1899 the Dictator Austin Jeffry was assassinated by a Republic spy which ended war and the Dictatorship officially surrendered in Jan 1900, the Dictatorship was overthrown and dissolved. The Republic of Duelland was officially formed in 1902 and the constitution was created in 1904. The Republic of Duelland selected Colin Wilson to be the first president of Duelland in 1902.

The Republic of Duelland (1904- )

After the Constitution was ratified in 1904, Colin Wilson was elected first President of the Republic of Duelland, Wilson started to make laws and reforms to help Duelland economy. In Feb 1905, He launch a series of program called New Agreement, these program helped out the unemployed, disabled, sick, youth, and elderly. The New Agreement was programs to help the country recover from economic problem of Duelland depression during the revolution.

In 1926-1928, the Republic of Duelland went through civil war between Republics and Dictatorship protesters. In 1926, groups of the Dictatorship protesters took over the city Phasa and led into a civil war because the state of Pentium Terram secede from the Republic. In 1927, The Dictatorship protesters took over most southeastern Duelland and throughout most of 1927, the Republic took back Pentium Terram and the Dictatorship protesters surrendered in 1928. Then the State of Pentium Terram rejoined the Republic of Duelland in December of 1928.

Throughout 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s Duelland has achieved major success with Economic boom in the 60s, with construction of the Duelland highway systems in the 70s, with the Taxes reforms in the 80s, with the launch of the DLNTV in the 90s, and with the military growth in the 00s.

In 2017, The Republic of Duelland joined the AA (Atlantia Alliance)

Geography

Duelland is bordered by the Northern Concordian Ocean, Great Lakes, and San Horica River.

The highest point in the country is Mt.Bor Quae, at 11,690 ft, The highest volcano in the country is the Polli Volcano 11,257 ft and the largest lake is Lake Daris. There are 11 known volcanoes in Duelland, and three of them have been active in the last 75 years.

Climate

The climate is tropical and subtropical. Dry season (December to April); rainy season (May to November); cooler in highlands. However, the country has many microclimates depending on elevation, rainfall, topography, and by the geography of each particular region.

Duellands seasons are defined by how much rain falls during a particular period. The year can be split into two periods, the dry season known to the residents as summer, and the rainy season, known locally as winter. The "summer" or dry season goes from December to April, and "winter" or rainy season goes from May to November, which almost coincides with the Concordian hurricane season, and during this time, it rains constantly in some regions.

The location receiving the most rain is the Prussian slopes of the Centrili Central mountains, with an annual rainfall of over 196.9 in. Humidity is also higher on the Prussian side than on the Concordian Ocean side.

Flora & Fauna

Duelland is a biodiversity hotspot. It is home to about 11,430 species of plants, of which 720 are endemic. There are 82 native trees and more than 1,400 types of orchids; a third of them can be found in the Lochnest Forest Reserve. Almost a half of the country's land is covered by forests, though only 3.5% is covered by primary forests. Deforestation in Duelland has been reduced from some of the worst rates in the world from 1943-1982, to almost zero by 2020.

The diversity of wildlife in Duelland is very high; there are 322 species of amphibians and reptiles, 678 species of birds, 190 species of mammals and 211 species of fresh water fish. Duelland has high levels of endemism; 92 species of amphibians and reptiles, 10 species of birds and 4 species of mammals are endemic to the country. However, many species are endangered. Some of the country's most endangered species are the Prussian eagle, the Giant anteater, the Pink toad and the Jaguar.

Over 31% of Duelland national territory is protected by Kuthern Commonwealth Enviromental Department which oversees all of the country's protected areas. There 42 national parks of Duelland & many conservation areas of Duelland.

Politics

Duelland is a federal, parliamentary, representative democratic republic. Federal legislative power is vested in the parliament consisting of Congress and Senate, which together form the legislative body. Congress is elected through direct elections: half by majority vote and half by proportional representation. The members of the Senate represent and are appointed by the governments of the 8 federated states. The Duelland political system operates under a framework laid out in the 1907 constitution. Amendments generally require a two-thirds majority of both the Congress & Senate; the fundamental principles of the constitution, as expressed in the articles guaranteeing human dignity, the separation of powers, the federal structure, and the rule of law, are valid in perpetuity.

The president, currently Kevin Franklin is the head of state and invested primarily with representative responsibilities and powers.

Rule Of Law

Duelland has a civil law system based on Kuthern law with some references to Nacatan law. The Duelland Constitutional Court is the Duelland Supreme Court responsible for constitutional matters, with power of judicial review. Duelland supreme court system is specialized: for civil and criminal cases, the highest court of appeal is the inquisitorial Federal Court of Justice, and for other affairs the courts are the Federal Labor Court, the Federal Social Court, the Federal Finance Court and the Federal Administrative Court.

Criminal and private laws are codified on the national level in the State & City Courts respectively. The Duelland penal system seeks the rehabilitation of the criminal and the protection of the public. Except for petty crimes, which are tried before a single professional judge, and serious political crimes, all charges are tried before mixed tribunals on which lay judges sit side by side with professional judges.

Foreign Relations

Duelland has a network of 137 diplomatic missions abroad and maintains relations with more than 40 countries. Duelland is a member of NSTO, the OCD, the World Bank and the PKFU. It has played an influential role in the League Of Novaris since its inception and has maintained a strong alliance with Nacata and all neighboring countries since 1990. Duelland promotes the creation of a more unified Novaris political, economic and security apparatus. The governments of Duelland and Nacata are close political allies. Cultural ties and economic interests have crafted a bond between the two countries resulting in Nacalandism.

The development policy of Duelland is an independent area of foreign policy. It is formulated by the Dueland Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and carried out by the implementing organisations. The Duelland government sees development policy as a joint responsibility of the international community.

Military

Duellands military, the Nescao, is organised into Republic Of Duelland Army, Republic of Duelland Marines, Republic of Duelland Navy, and the Republic of Duelland Airforce branches. In absolute terms, Duelland military expenditure is one of the highest in the world. In 2019, military spending was at $86.4 billion, about 2.3% of the country's GDP, well above the NSTO target of 1.6%.

As of January 2020, DAF has a strength of 212,100 active soldiers and 91,349 civilians. Reservists are available to the Armed Forces and participate in defense exercises and deployments abroad. Until 2007, military service was compulsory for men at age 18, but this has been officially suspended and replaced with a voluntary service. Since 2006 women may serve in all functions of service without restriction.

In peacetime, the DAF is commanded by the Minister of Defense. In state of defense, the President would become commander-in-chief of DAF. The role of the DAF is described in the Constitution of Duelland as defensive only. But after a ruling the term "defense" has been defined to not only include protection of the borders of Duelland, but also crisis reaction and conflict prevention, or more broadly as guarding the security of Germany anywhere in the world. As of 2020, the Duelland military has about 6,300 troops stationed in foreign countries as part of international peacekeeping forces, including about 2,200 supporting operations against Al-Jaheed, 1,100 in the NSTO-led Resolute Support Mission in Atiland, and 400 in Sokala.

Economy

Duelland has a social market economy with a highly skilled labor force, a low level of corruption, and a high level of innovation. It is Novaris fourth largest exporter of goods. The service sector contributes approximately 70% of the total GDP, industry 20%, and agriculture 10% as of 2020. The unemployment rate amounts to 3.2% as of January 2020, which is the fourth-lowest in the Commonwealth System.

Being home to the fastest car, the automotive industry in Duelland is regarded as one of the most competitive and innovative in the world, and is the third largest by production. The top 10 exports of Duelland are vehicles, machinery, chemical goods, electronic products, electrical equipment's, pharmaceuticals, transport equipment's, basic metals, food products, and rubber and plastics.

Research and development efforts form an integral part of Duelland's economy.

Tourism

Great Nicobar Beach

Duelland is the most-visited nation in the South Novaris region, with 11.2 million foreign visitors in 2020, up 6% from 2010. In 20169 the highest number of tourists came from the Kuthenburg, with 4.6 Million visitors, followed by Aurora with 3.4 Millions arrivals.

A pioneer of ecotourism, Duelland draws many tourists to its extensive series of national parks and other protected areas. The trail of 7 sins supports this by allowing travelers to walk across the country from Prussia to the concordian ocean.

Infrastructure

Cities and towns in Duelland are interconnected by a system of roads, freeways, expressways, and highways maintained by the Highways and Transportation Authority under the jurisdiction of the Duelland Department of Transportation, and patrolled by the Duelland Police Department. The country metropolitan area is served by a public bus transit system and a metro system called Metro Urban Train. Other forms of public transportation include seaborne ferries (that serve in Duelland coastal cities) as well as private mini buses.

Duelland has three international airports, the Duelland International Airport in Duelland City, Franklin Airport in Droayville, and the Coland Airport in Duel City, and 27 local airports.

Duelland has nine ports in different cities across the coastal cities. The Colosop Port is the largest in Duelland, and the busiest port in the Duelland.

Demographics

With a population of 32.1 million according to the 2010 census, rising to 38.8 million as of 2019, Its population density stands at 376.56 inhabitants per square kilometer. The overall life expectancy in Duelland at birth is 84.2 years . The fertility rate of 1.88 children born per woman is below the replacement rate of 2.1 and is one of the lowest fertility rates in Novaris. Since the 1990s, Duelland death rate has exceeded its birth rate. However, Duelland is witnessing increased birth rates and migration rates since the beginning of the 2010s, particularly a rise in the number of well-educated migrants.

Four sizable groups of people are referred to as "national minorities" because their ancestors have lived in their respective regions for centuries: There is a Nacatan minority in the northernmost state of Pollokia; the Kizmana, a Kizmonia population, are in the Devlas region of near Prussian border.; the Duellians live throughout the country; and the Kintara are concentrated in near the southern most area of Duelland.

The majority of migrants live in northern Duelland, in particular in urban areas. Of the country's residents, 12.1 million people were of immigrant or partially immigrant descent in 2020. In 2018, the Population Division of the Kuthern Commonwealth Department of Economic and Social Affairs listed Duelland as host to the second-highest number of international migrants of the Kuthern commonwealths.

Duelland has a number of large cities. There are 7 officially recognized metropolitan regions. The country's largest city is Duel City, while its largest urban area is the Lochmount City.

Languages

Codexian is the official and predominant spoken language in Duelland. It is one of 17 official and working languages of the League of Novaris, and one of the three procedural languages of the Kuthern Commonwealth. Duellandians are typically multilingual: 76% of Duelland citizens claim to be able to communicate in at least one foreign language and 24% in at least two.

Education

Responsibility for educational supervision in Duelland is primarily organised within the individual federal states. Optional kindergarten education is provided for all children between three and six years old, after which school attendance is compulsory for at least nine years. Primary education usually lasts for four to six years. Secondary schooling is divided into tracks based on whether students pursue academic or vocational education. It allows students in vocational training to learn in a company as well as in a state-run trade school. This model is well regarded and reproduced all around the world.

Most of the Duelland universities are public institutions, and students traditionally study without fee payment.

Health

Duelland system of hospitals, dates from medieval times, and today, Duelland has the oldest universal health care system in the Kuthern Commonwealths, dating from Pollok social legislation of the 1890s. Since the 1890s, reforms and provisions have ensured a balanced health care system. The population is covered by a health insurance plan provided by statute, with criteria allowing some groups to opt for a private health insurance contract. Duelland's health care system was 85% government-funded and 15% privately funded as of 2020.
