Kveshi Empire and Oceansend
In 720AD720BCE, the maritime Kveshi Empire established a settlement on the coast of South West Aurora. Relations between the Kveshi and Kormistazm mainly involved the trade of crops and livestock, though also the exchange of technologies. The introduction of advanced ironworking by the Kveshi marked the beginning of the iron age in the region. With trade increasing in volume and profitability, the Kveshi expanded their holdings by driving people from the lands surrounding the city to create a buffer zone and facilitate agriculture to support the growing population. The Kormistazic government endeavoured to make sure they could monopolise trade from the distant empire.

By 532BCE, the major Kormistazic city-states and settlements of the Holy Confederacy coalesced into an empire. This is been shown to have happened after an influential but unnamed priest assembled a council from several major settlements from the Eastern region and declared himself emperor in the name of the gods and their idols. An invasion force from Sekapolis from which he was unable to defend against saw him executed. However, the leader of the army turned back and invaded the capitol too, removing the government from power in a bloodless coup, declaring himself emperor. Known as Kayus Hunnes, he made an exodus into the south-western Zycannes and returned with a rudimentary imperial constitution, which he claimed was gifted upon him via divine inspiration. A council of religious representatives from both sects was assembled as an embodiment of both Sek and Nocts powers combined to rightfully rule over the Kormistazic populace. It was at this time that the revised religious text of Kozam, Kairos, tome of the earth, were published by the prophet Jakatai Kalamitas. The empire first incorporated Kozam-worshipping settlements that were often already part of the former Confederacy, before engulfing the Empires and Kingdoms of the entire eastern peninsular of the Auroran continent as well as areas of the divided Maltervenian empire over a 500 year conquest.

In 1523, the Kormistazic city of Fort Montekaan was attacked by legions from the Morstaybishlian Empire led by king Slev III. This was provoked after the discovery of a large gold deposit on the Jaan river, a historic border between the two nations. With Montekaan able to project power over the area and thus legitimise the Kormistazic claim to the deposit, it logically had to be taken over for Morstaybishlia to be able to lay their own claim.
However, Montekaan was pre-warned of the attack and ambushed the attacking legions as they attempted to siege the city. All but a few soldiers were massacred in battle, and Slev III was publicly executed to humiliate the Morstaybishlians. Emperor Honoluras Faithful, intent on leading a counter attack against the Morstaybishlian empire, rallied an army to the city, though word of a massive impending attack by the new king Lambertus IV meant he ordered a large number of troops to lie in wait along Zate marsh to intercept it. Bypassing Zate marsh by taking a risky route along several mountain passes of the Zycannes, the Morstaybishlian army led a devastating attack on the city, taking it within days and leading to Honoluras' death before reinforcements could arrive. All subsequent attempts to retake Fort Montekaan were unsuccessful due to being hampered by a series of poor winters and an increasing number of Morstaybishlian forces in the city.
