On 14 September 2020, Cappedorite chancellor Maya Murray was shot and wounded by Thomarian terrorist Alexander Durovigria in Helkani, as she was in the middle of making a press conference and an address on the state of union between Cappedore and the Autonomous Republic of Thomaria.
Murray was seriously injured by a bullet that struck her in the upper right arm, reportedly after Durovigria was pushed aside by a police officer after he was spotted aiming a supposed weapon at the Chancellor.
Murray was seriously injured, with the bullet causing an infection in her arm that kept her hospitalized for one month, leaving first deputy chancellor Thomas Coleman as acting chancellor from September to October 2020. It is the first time in Cappedorite history that the acting chancellor has been of a different party than the largest in the Gemotern.
