The Ånslan-Duarlan Riots was a series of protests, rioting and civilian armed conflict between the 20th June 2023 and 30th July 2023. With tens of thousands people rioting in the Autonomous Communities of Ånslan and Duarlan, which saw large amounts of arson, looting and robbery in said regions. With the rioting turning towards a further violent direction after an speciest charged murder against an elven shopkeeper on the 6th July by a group of rioters. The murder furthered species tensions and drew the attention of the far right Nyveldian National Front (NNF). With NNF members instigating violent escalation against the tiefling communities with a series of mass shootings against rioters and civilians alike. Resulting in armed conflict between the NNF and police. On the 8th July the Norgsveltian government deployed the Home Guard into the interior regions and soon after declared the NNF as an terrorist organization.

The rioting started as a response to speciest and nationalistic rhetoric from the Nyveldian government and right wing politicians from the Fatherland Party, specifically a speech made by Rosia Sannadatur. With Sannadatur praising the NNF on the 19th June and blaming the leaders of Ånslan and Duarlan for a rising crime rate in Nyveldet. Enraging the largely tiefling dominated areas for said comments with the People’s Workers Party (PWP) encouraging its members to protest as a response. With leader of the PWP in Nyveldet, Alei Cogasi, proclaiming it as the rightful response to the hate coming from the Nyveldian Right.
