In 1919, the civilian government of the Union of Stražsko was overthrown in a military [[wikipedia:Coup d'état|coup d’état]] led by General Ondřej Kadlec, establishing the New Stražská Order as a [[wikipedia:stratocracy|stratocracy]]. The New Stražská Order was ruled by the [[wikipedia:Supreme leader|Ochránce]], who served as Head of State and Head of Government, with delegation to various Ministers, who concurrently served in high military offices. The courts were dismantled, and crimes were handled mostly by the [[wikipedia:Secret police|secret police]], the Umlčet. Without a functioning legislature, laws were issued as executive orders by the Ochránce and members of his cabinet.
Due to a hard line policy of [[wikipedia:Autarky|autarky]] and recovery from communism, the Stražská economy was, quite frankly, shit, and poverty became a constant in the lives of the lower and middle classes. Military officers and war veterans were treated as first class citizens, with various benefits keeping them loyal to the ruling regime. Soldiers employed under the New Stražská Order were also rewarded with benefits for their family, and the defense industry was subsidized to secure a strong [[wikipedia:Military–industrial complex|military-industrial complex]]. This severe class divide and terrible economy is what led to the Riots and Revolts of 1930, which led to the total collapse of the New Stražská Order into the Stražská Warzone.
