Its metropolitan area (10,235 square kilometers or 3,591 square miles) is densely populated with an estimated 29.468 million residents as of 2020; the city proper has a population of 10.32 million people. Located at the head of BayAeterite of DarensaGulf, Loren forms the center of the [[Grand Dominion of Aeter -]], Mirhaime's largest and most economically important region. According to historical records, Loren's history could be traced back to around 30 centuries prior, with mythological records date its founding to around 942 BCE. The site whereupon Loren is located had been inhabited for much longer with a history of continuous settlement dating back three millennias. Loren's history coincides with the history of the AeteriteKingdom Imperiumof Marga and, later the Trinterian Commonwealth which was first proclaimed in the city in 23 CE (marking Year Null in the Trinterian Standard Calendar). During the Industrial Revolution beginning in the 19th century, Loren underwent rapid industrialization and thus urbanization with its population swelling to well over three million by 1870.
