Rinardel unsuccessfully attempted selection to contest the [[MBE Democrats|Democratic Party]]'s South Skaul and Velveton constituency in 2012 and 2014. He was instead selected to contest the Bendles and Swake, Bursil constituency in 2016 by the Labour Sorting Committee, resigning as a councillor in Aurama in December. Rinardel ousted the incumbent MP Lorie Ferist by 1,295 votes, later bolstering his majority in the 2019 election by 19,418 and in the 2021 election by another 7,453.
Rinardel was one of two survivors in the [[Lantern Tower bombing]], alongside [[Franklin Barvata]]; suffering a minor lung collapse, a broken wrist and a fractured hip bone. He returned to work five weeks later.
