The city was founded after a federation of city states in the island of North Veneto decided to unify into a single nation, deciding to create a planned city as its capital. This also marked the founding of the Lapinumbian trade league, which was able to have members from all around the bay of Lapinum and southwest Novaris, reaching up to the bay of Atlantia

The Novapolian-Lapinumbian war was a war over the control of the bay of Lapinum. Tensions between the two merchant republics was rising as Lapinumbia power was beginning to rival Novapolian dominance in the region. These tensions culminated into a war after a Novapolian trade fleet was raided by pirates and was mistook as a Lapinumbian act of aggression. This caused retaliation from the Novapolians, sending a fleet to invade Lapinumbia. Lapinumbia was able to scramble a fleet in time, receiving help from their trade league. This led to the naval battle of Introitus, where both fleets clashed and led to a Lapinumbian victory. After this, the Novapolian fleet was destroyed, allowing the Lapinumbian's to land in Novapolia and taking the city. The Republic of Novapoli was annexed by Lapinumbia, removing their main rival in the region and allowing Lapinumbia to hold dominance in the regio.
