The Tristmeam is named after a semi-mythical whale that sank ships around the Kahl Sea for the majority of the eleventh century. The Trintercarrier 8 is a part of a wider series of Trinter-aircraft by CDS to fulfil the need for a new and improved transport aircraft that utilises modern-day technologies to streamline its applications. The TC-8 began development in 2018, looking to replace the ageing fleet of strategic airlifters of Comlathas nations. The majority of the funding for the project was sourced from Comlathas nations, who are also home to the manufacturers and designers of the aircraft. On December the 6th of 2021, the TC-8 completed its maiden flight. The TC-8 was introduced on the 29th of December of 2023, with it entering service in the Comlathas Enhanced Defence Organization. The Trintercarrier 8 is primarily used as a strategic airlifter, however, it also has the capability to be also used for tactical airlift operations. The TC-8 is currently used by the air forces of Mirhaime, Thalor, Costalan and Thøn. It has been used for a wide range of operations, from providing the necessities to the victims of the 2024 Phaus Landslide to delivering military equipment from the manufacturer to the customer’s military, the TC-8 has a wide range of uses. == Design == The TC-8 is designed to transport large amounts of goods or vehicles from one place to another. It is a total of 53.27 metres long and has a wingspan of 50.1 metres. It uses an anhedral wing configuration and utilises its large T-tail to provide a higher centre of pressure for improved stability. Four TT1 Fan X40s power the TC-8, each one provides 431 kN of thrust, helping the TC-8 reach a maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) of 385,000 kilograms. These engines also have inbuilt thrust reversers, allowing the aircraft to takeoff entirely by itself. It also has a large cargo hold that can hold 20 463L pallets. It has the ability to transport 3 Talamainor I Mk. S Main Battle Tanks, 4 Brídairnéis I Mk. S Infantry Fighting Vehicles and 8 APCs. The TC-8s payload differs depending on how full its fuel tanks are, at full capacity its payload is 220,000 kilograms, which is more than enough to satisfy most needs of the cargo space. To reach an 1,800 m takeoff distance with half-full tanks, the maximum payload would be 65,000 kilograms, enough to accommodate 1 Talamainor-1S Main Battle Tank. The TC-8 has a range of 4,750 kilometres with 65,000 kilograms of payload, and a ferry range of 12,350 kilograms. It has a cruising speed of 907 km/h (0.735 Mach) and has a service ceiling of 15,000 metres. == Specifications == === General Characteristics === * Crew: Minimum of 3 (2 pilots, 1 loadmaster) * Cargo Hold Dimensions: length 27.5 m (90.2 ft) x width 5.7 m (18.7 ft) x height 3.9 m (12.7 ft) * Cargo Hold Capacity: 611.325 m2/ 611,325 L (6580.2496 ft2) * Length: 53.27 m (174.7 ft) * Wingspan: 50.1 m (164.3 ft) * Height: 23 m (75.4 ft) * Wing Area: 358 m2/ 3853 ft2 * Aspect Ratio: 7.011 * Empty Weight: 135,034 kg (297,699 lbs) * Max takeoff weight: 555,000 kg (1,223,566 lbs) * Fuel Capacity: 198,000 L (52,306 gal) * Powerplant: 4 x TT1 Fan X40 turbofan engines, each producing 431 kN of thrust. === Performance === * Cruise Speed: 907 km/h (490 kn, 564 mph) Mach 0.735 * Range: 4,750 km (2,952 mi, 2,565 nmi) with 65,000 kg of payload * Ferry Range: 12,350 km (7,673 mi) * Service Ceiling: 15,000 m (49,212 ft) * Takeoff Run at MTOW: 2,700 m (8,858 ft) * Takeoff Run at 300,000 kg total weight: 1,800 m (5,906 ft) * Takeoff Run at 210,000 kg total weight: 920 m (3,018 ft) * Landing Distance: 1,010 m (3,313 ft) '
