Royal Tavari Armed Forces: Difference between revisions

Until 2016, Acronis had a policy of mandatory conscription of all 18 year old citizens. After 2016, the Royal Acronian Armed Forces switched to a voluntary service model. During conscription, all citizens, male and female, were required to serve a total of 36 months in the Acronian military, except those in the clergy. After serving 18 months in fully-active service, citizens entered into what was called statutorily "active reserve status" for another 18 months. These people continued semi-regular training exercises and were eligible to be called upon in the event of a crisis. The last conscripted Acronians completed their service on December 31st, 2019.

In 2020, the Acronian Empire budgeted to spend the equivalent of SH$63,454,528,187 on the Royal Acronian Armed Forces, or approximately 3.5% of GDP. Of this, SH$8 billion was allocated to the Royal Acronian Marshals, leaving SH$55,454,528,187 (or 3.1% of GDP) for the remaining sectors of the Armed Forces.

The Empire counts 507,718 people in active duty status. This figure includes members of the Royal Acronian Marshals (including the national police, border guard, and coast guard) which are not always counted among global militaries as active duty. Excluding these individuals, in 2020 the total number of active duty personnel was 307,695. The total number of Acronians serving in the reserves was approximately 2.5 million in 2020.
