As part of sweeping reforms to industry, newly-appointed Ronald Stemmler and his chairpersons embarked on a project to connect the oceans of Osterlicsh's east and west coast. The colossal undertaking would require approximately 5801,110 kilometres of canal and able to fit multiple ships side-by-side heading in alternate directions. The east and west mouths of the canal are known as the East and West Portals. Each portal has three entry and three exit lanes. This means that at any given time, one ship can be leaving the gate, one ship stabilising in the lock, and a third ship entering the gate. The canal has a number of smaller ports throughout its course, connecting the remained or Osterlicsh to the world.

The country appealed to the world stage for support in completing the canal by the year 2020. In exchange, the Democratic Republic of Osterlicsh promised a 50% cut in passage tariffs for vessels registered in nations donating. Below, the table lists what each participant country donated to the project.

| text = '''An out-of-character note:''' The construction of this project is a massive undertaking. I calculate the length of this canal as approximately 580 kilometres. This is around thirty times longer than that of the {{wp|Suez canal}} (193 km), which took ten years to construct. I would therefore estimate that, with assistance from supporting nations, World Worker's Canal would take thirty years to complete.

In line with the idea of "New Osterlicsh", the re-branding initiative in 1990, this would mean that the project would be due to complete in 2020. This is part-realistic, part-convenient to give me something to start national roleplay with.

The above was my initial measurement. It seems I managed to mis-measure the canal and that it would be more likely closer to 1,110 km long (441 pixels). For continuity of roleplay, I will continue as planned, but this may be subject to revision after it has been concluded.
