The majority of Marislians were killed or exiled, though a minority resettled in the [[Great Auroran Desert]]. Some accepted Ethalrification and remained. It is believed that during the genocide, Ethalrian forces used inhumane methods such as mass burial pits for the living, mass cliff jumping and being eaten or trampled alive by [[T'uchimoti]]s. Ethalrian propaganda regarded Marislians as "feral abominations", and justified their killing and use in scientific experiments, allowing Ethalrian soldiers to rape Marislians.
With only a small number of Marislians accepting conversion, those who refused were variously dispersed, forcefully resettled, and most of the time, tortured and/or killed in mass; resulting in a mass extermination of Marislian culture.
