The Marislian genocide was the Grand Matriarchy of Ethalria's systematic mass murder, ethnic cleansing and expulsion of 2.7 - 2.75 million ethnic Marish (minimum 91% of the total population) from their homeland Marislia in the aftermath of the Ethalro-Marislian War. The majority of the Marish were killed or exiled, though a minority resettled in the Great Auroran Desert. Some accepted Ethalrification and remained. It is believed that during the genocide, Ethalrian forces used inhumane methods such as mass burial pits for the living, mass cliff jumping and being eaten or trampled alive by T'uchimotis. Ethalrian propaganda regarded the Marish as "feral abominations", and justified their killing and use in scientific experiments, allowing Ethalrian soldiers to rape Marish peoples.
With only a small number of Marish people accepting conversion, those who refused were variously dispersed, forcefully resettled, and most of the time, tortured and/or killed in mass; resulting in a mass extermination of Marish culture.
