Lunæria (or Lunaeria), officially the Holy Lunærian Empire, is a country in eastern Yasteria which occupies the southern coast of Lake Miyu.

Lunæria is a matriarchal theocratic monarchy with limited democratic elements. The Queen of Lunæria, Evelina III, is the head of state as well as the head of Lunæcism, which is the state religion. The nation has a bicameral parliament, with the upper house composed of the Queen's advisors and (Lunæcist bishops), and the lower house composed of members elected by citizens from a pre-approved list. Only Lunæcists are granted citizenship in Lunæria. Non-adherents are considered a societal underclass, and are afforded fewer rights.

As of 2024, it had an estimated population of 62 million people, most of whom live in rural areas. The only major urban settlement in Lunæria is its sprawling capital of Libaana, which is home to nearly a third of the nation's population.

Religion

Lunæcism is the state-mandated faith of Lunæria and is inextricably tied to the functions of government.

While the clergy was once heavily involved in the day-to-day life of Lunærians, rapid population growth made such a task increasingly unfeasible for the size of the clergy. It now preoccupies itself with management on a larger scale, such as being in charge of education in the nation. Consequently, as long as Lunærians meet basic religious practices and expectations (attending religious services, regularly having children, worshiping the moon), they will be considered a Lunæcist, so long as their private practices do not attract any unwanted attention.
